You make some good points about possible damage.

I placed my 12 volt/USB ports on the inside of my added on LH cubby in order to still have the storage space unencumbered.

If placed on the outside cover it would make it difficult to remove the cover and the protrusion of the plugs with their wires would interfere with storage.
I was going to do exactly what OP did for the same reason as he, and decided against it for the same reason as you. A this point I am back to putting them inside the cubby as I don't want the switch to get bumped by random stuff banging around. But that could happen in the cubby as well.

Back in July, I tapped into the Flexbed for 12 volt and USB/USB-C connections nested inside the passenger side bed cubby. I decided to move the power point onto the cubby cover for easier access.

I'm much happier with the aesthetics and accessibilty.
nicely done, looks great, I assume you have a spray-in liner, mine will have a drop-in liner, will the cubby still be able to be removed?

I like what you have done. I agree with " the aesthetics and accessibility"

I too installed the 12v and 110 v outlets on the inside sides of the cubby.

I like the looks and of what you have done. I am considering cutting a hole in the bed beside the cubby to install the outlets but have not decided I want to cut a hole in my truck yet. :ROFLMAO:
