Looking at a few different options for bed racks. Thinking of using the TS Rails from Truxedo as the mounting point. Then had my eye on the Rhino Rack Vortex or Heavy Duty bar system. The quick release mounts would be convenient.

Which brings me to my question, what length cross bar is right? Rhino makes these in 54, 59, 65 inch lengths. The bed is said to be 53.3". Total vehicle width of 73". So a bar of 54" seems short, not enough to get over the rail. Seems 59" is enough to get you out of the bed over the rail. 65 seems long.

What have you seen on it?

Take a look at this thread, this is what 63-1/2" look like. Depending on the bracket, 59" might be the sweet spot.

Great find. I did a search but didn't see this come up. 65" is too long from these pictures. I do think 59" is the sweet spot when visualizing these 4-5" shorter. Also while I'd prefer not to hack anything off, I can always trim the bars worse to worse... Can't make them longer.

Interesting what they did for a mount. Tempting due to price. But with the Rhino, the towers are quick release. The ability to pop it off and on easily will be worth the couple bucks. Plus through end of year Rhino has a 25% off rebate. That'll help as well.
