After reading a related thread I'm convinced any software update has to install a new version and wipes any outside/FORSCAN addons.

When I took my 22 XL hybrid in for the emissions recall I mentioned to the service advisor that I had made changes and didn't want them reverted to as built. I was fully expecting to have to rework the settings with Forscan, but had no issues with my cruise or lane keep after the module updates. Definitely worth keeping info. on your changes just in case though.

Cheers.

Is there a way to create a backup file, for situations like this where restoration may be needed?

My add on cruise cost $675, They reprogramed my ECM and changed out my steering wheel controls.
Ok yep, Thats some custom mod level of add on. I imagine most other dealers wont want to touch that at all either. I'd suggest trying to find a local shop that can help or learn forscan to try and reenable the features as it sounds like most updates are going to reset the changes they made.

I made an Excel doc. with the as built info. and added the required changes as notes for reference. The as built info. is available from Ford, can't recall the exact website. I'm sure there is a way to make backups with Forscan, but I can't remember how and my license has expired.

Cheers.

I just had the tail lamp recall done. the Tech came to my house and performed it. I told him I had reservations about losing, the cruise control and he said it wouldn't happen. Well, you can guess it did. I called the dealership right away and they resolved it by sending a third, party tech to my house the next day and he fixed it. He stated that if the Ford tech would have downloaded the info in the module first in his scanner done the upgrade, then reuploaded it the cruise would have still worked. He also stated that he is doing a lot of this work for local dealers.

Every time I go into the truck configuration I back up any changes to the laptop, in the event that the dealer restores to stock. I have a copy of the stock configuration too.
