Be very careful if you order the Yakima bed rack for the Maverick from Ford's website.
I had a bunch of FordPass Reward points from having bought a Bronco Sport last year, and then a Maverick this year, so I decided to spend them on a few accessories.
The product description says it comes with HD cross bars, yet when they shipped it, they only shipped the towers, which are worthless without the cross bars. I checked all the shipping tracking numbers, and I've received all the packages they shipped. The order is marked 'Fulfilled'
No problem, I thought. I'll simply contact them Monday morning and I'm sure they'll send those missing cross bars right out. Well, not so fast. That's not how things work around Ford.
In order to get cross bars, I need to return the entire original order in the original packaging with all paperwork, and once they have received it, they will ship out a replacement. That's going to be tough since I burned the boxes this weekend. Plus, the parts I did receive are fine. There is no need to return them. All I need is the missing cross bars.
Yakima sells the exact same items on their website (for less, I might add), but they sell the towers and the cross bars separately. There is no way the cross bars would have fit inside the box with the towers, as they are separate products. Ford decided to sell them bundled, but evidently forgot to tell someone in the shipping department that an order consists of two components, not just one.
So here I am with some useless Yakima bed rack towers and no way to get the cross bars without buying them direct from Yakima. Ford doesn't even sell the bars separately.
I am absolutely furious with Ford's online chat system. They refused to escalate my issue to a supervisor, and merely referred me to my local Ford dealer. As if they have anything to do with online orders. The guy at the dealership at least said he would check and see what he could find out, which is far more than the online chat rep offered.
It looks like I may have to contest the charge on my credit card in order to get their attention.
I gotta say, it looks pretty stupid without the cross bars.
