Check into getting a rear-view mirror dashcam. It replaces the factory mirror and records front and rear. I like the wider field of view from the rear camera as it eliminates all your blind spots.
I installed a rear-view mirror dashcam, and really like it. (My wife doesn't, though!) It looks factory, as it replaces the factory mirror. It records front and rear views, and since the rear camera is mounted on the rack above the tailgate, the rear view is never obstructed by cargo in the...
I recently added a rear view mirror dashcam to replace the factory rear view mirror, and I'm powering it off the 12v outlet in the console. (Didn't want to go through the hassle of wiring it into the ignition harness) The 12v outlet powers up when you start the vehicle, and that's great. But...
What I'm actually aiming at is a system where I have a camera on the rear of my Airstream trailer that I can monitor from the rear view mirror display. Not just for backing. I've tried 2 different wireless camera/monitor systems, and they both sucked. One was a wifi connection to an app your...
Update: I went back at it again, and was able to get the wire through the large grommet under the rear seat. From there it was easy. I drilled a small 3/8" hole at the left rear of the bed just under the top edge - above the 110v plug - to snake the wire out to the camera. Removing the 110v...
When the screen is off, it does function as a regular mirror, but more like one that is in 'night' mode. The glass is not as reflective as a real mirror.
I've just installed a new rear view mirror dashcam. I have the wire to the rear camera run along the top of the windshield , down the A-pillar, and along the floor under the plastic trim back to the space under the rear seat. The rear camera is mounted under the top cross bar of my Yakima bed...
I like my AirLift 1000 bladder system, but I wish someone like Monroe or Gabriel would have come out with some air lift shock absorbers for the Maverick. Putting those air bladders inside the springs was a bitch! But now that it's done, I have no complaints. I tow an 18' vintage Airstream...
Yes. When I first got the truck, the tires were at 44 PSI from the factory. I dropped it down to what the door sticker said and it got a lot quieter. But there are still some road surfaces that are very noisy. Old interstate concrete at 80 MPH seems to be the worst.
Is it just me, or does the Maverick seem to have a good bit of road noise on some road surfaces? I have the Lariat trim with the Pirelli Scorpion tires. One some road surfaces, like newly paved ones, it is nice and quiet. But on others, it's so noisy it is almost painful. Just got back home...
I keep getting that same error message, and reported it to Ford yesterday. Here's what they replied:
"Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. We would be happy to assist you with that error message. Please make sure you are using Google Chrome on computer and clear your cookies and cache...
Be very careful if you order the Yakima bed rack for the Maverick from Ford's website.
I had a bunch of FordPass Reward points from having bought a Bronco Sport last year, and then a Maverick this year, so I decided to spend them on a few accessories.
The product description says it comes with...
Be careful putting too much weight in the rear of the trailer. Trailers need 10-15% of their weight on the tongue for stability to control swaying. If you've ever seen a video of a swaying trailer that gets out of control, you will not want that to happen!
The weight-distribution hitch and...
Nice add-ons! I'll be doing more to mine as well. Today the weather is great, so I installed the Bushwacker fender flares this afternoon. Here's the before and after:
And after:
OK, the rain quit! Here are some pics with the Rough Country 2" lift kit installed and 1-1/2" wheel spacers with the stock tires. The fender flares are definitely needed, and some bigger 245/70-R17 All-terrain tires to fill out the wheel wells too.
I'll take some shots if it ever quits raining! I'd like to finish installing the fender flares and the tonneau cover I ordered so it will look a little better. But maybe some before and after shots will be nice.
