I tried to get the backup camera recall done today and it did not take. The service advisor said it got to the end and then just quit. At least I got a free oil change for my troubles!

I am due for the recall update and an oil change in 500 miles. What was Ford's solution? Curious for an update. I wish it could just update wirelessly like my Subaru did.

My guess is that they didn't charge the 12v battery like they were suppose to before applying the update, and it went into deep sleep.

I didn’t have time for them to contact Ford IT so I will have to bring it back.

I hope not! I didn’t notice anything on my drive home. Truck operated like normal.

This is more than likely what happened. I did 6 of these recalls last week had no issues each took about 30 minutes each. They didn’t put a power supply or battery charger and the truck went into sleep mode with the key on. This is one of the few recall software updates where you should be putting a power supply to the battery.

The topic title is misleading. It implies that after the recall, the camera still froze or lagged.

That's happened with a few at our dealership too. The file is fairly large, and sometimes the install fails on the first attempt!

That's what the mobile tech told me, also. Mine finished the first time- about 45 minutes.
It took the Mobile Tech about 7 hours to do mine. He went back to the dealership and brought back every program thumb drive they had and finally got it to take. They would completely load the update then it would bomb when the ran the check digit verification. The tech didn't know what the problem was, but was aware there is a problem with some trucks.

What year is your Maverick? I've heard that the older ones are more likely to have issues/take longer...which makes sense, because there are probably more updates to the software to do!
