This seems like this would be a common problem but I haven't seen any threads on it. If I try backing up with my tailgate down it constantly screams at me like I'm about to hit something. Poor placement of sensors from Ford it seems. Anyone else?

Oh idk, I guess so. I have the 360 thing and all the bells and whistles.
Well, if you have all the bells and whistles then you can't be surprised when all the bells and whistles go off..... 🤣

This is the exact reason why I don't get all the bells and whistles..... (i.e. Annoyances)

I wonder if your sensors see the tailgate down as if it itself is an object? Since I believe the sensor dots are in the bumper if I remember correctly. Kinda funny these jokes about all the bells and whistles. Definitely had a good laugh :)

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Ford really didn't think the placement though.

That's a real shame. I'm surprised there isn't a feature to turn off or recognize the tailgate being down or some way the system should recognize that.

There was similar thread to this about backing up with a trailer I think, but yes its because the backup camera was pointed straight at the ground so it essentially thinks your backing up to a wall. We were playing with the idea of making a 3d printed swivel mount for the Ford logo (where the camera is imbedded) so when the tail gate is dropped, it swings down and still faces backwards. Nothing ever came of it but I think it would still be a good idea if it could be done.

**Ford engineers- if you're secretly reading these threads... I want royalties for this idea!

Can you put it into TOW mode and turn off the rear sensors?

Oh gosh, that would be horrible if it always assumed you'd be backing up into the trailer lol. This is smart, at least it sounds like it should work?
