I politely disagree with the recall haters. I'm a Boomer who remembers "back in the day" going back to the 1960s. But rear view cameras save several children and pets every year. You often didn't see kids "back in the day" with side mirrors or the rear mirror because of the huge rear blind spot.

Walk out right now and place a stuffed teddy bear a foot or two from the middle of your Maverick's bumper. Now get in and tell me if you see it from the side mirrors or the rear view mirror. I think not.

"Back in the day" is usually a BS argument. It ranks right up there with "Why isn't everyone else as safe a driver as me?".
Exactly. 👍
The camera is also a nice convenience because this motorcycle is damn hard to see without it when parallel parking.

Spot on. Very reasonable.
There are many on here who are 100% back in the day....

The camera is just another tool to use. Nothing beats a preflight walk around. I'm never in such a hurry that I can't walk around a car before getting in.

😿 🎻

OP: Shit happens.

I doubt you'll have to wait as long as many folks did who ordered 23s & 24s during the worldwide supply chain issues. I was one of those who waited 13 months. Many waited twice that long. All I got for my wait was MSRP, which was promised anyway.
Worse I was promised a nice low 3.9% for 60 months and got hammered with 5.25% as a "thank you for waiting."

Let's get rid of airbags, seatbelts turbochargers and fuel injection since we didn't have them "back in the day!"

Grab your screw drivers and sandpaper because we all need to use points and carburetors!

Oh come on, sandpaper??
I used a points file or very fine Emery/crocus cloth. Don't forget to grease the lobes.
Pedal to the floor once, up halfway turn the key and it may start.🤣

I have a 1950 flathead that is turn key on, half choke only if cold, press clutch in, press starter button and she fires up. Oh, it's a 6 volt positive ground too. Remember those??

Yep
Is the starter button on the dash or on the floor? I had no Buick that had a starter button on the floor.

My back up camera has shown a multitude of issues. Mostly it “stutters” where it appears to be a slow feed. Or the processor isn’t able to keep up with all the other electronics/sensors/etc. However one day the camera just wouldn’t turn on! A message came on the black screen that said something like your camera is inoperable, please contact your dealer immediately. I turned off the truck and turned it back on and everything was fine. While I still use my mirrors and turning my head quite a bit out of old habits, I will say the camera is nice to have. Especially if you have a roll up tonneau cover as it takes up half the rear view window. I’ve got a lot of kids in my cul de sac running around at all hours of the day. I feel better about having a camera that works as hitting one of my kids or any other child is not something I want to experience.

Soooo...question here. If you have a 2024 and take it in for any type of service....will they...or CAN they keep your truck until the camera recall is performed? Just curious. Thanks.
Obviously not

No.
I just had my 2024 in for an oil change. They don't have a fix yet for the backup camera. Yeah I got it back or there would have been a big problem.
They can't sell the new 2024s yet until they have a fix.
I don't get it though. They say sometimes it freezes. People can't see that the picture's not moving when you're using it?
I have never looked at it. I turned my head around like I've been doing for the past 50 years. It's not a problem.
They can sell 2024 Lariats because they have sync 3?

Pretty sure that is correct. If I remember correctly the recall/stop sale is only on the Non-Lariat trims which have the base audio system, Lariats with the sync 3 are not affected. Least thats my understanding.

I never got it to begin with. I paid $10,000. down and when it showed up on Thanksgiving I was stoked. But, NO they won’t give it to me and I sold my old truck to make room for the new one. Now I’m losing out on work.
Geez, hate to hear that, very unfortunate. Don't mean to be unthoughtful but one thing I learned early in life:
