Went to a dirt bike race today and the parking was in soaking wet fields. My AWD 2.0 Ecoboost had zero issues with the mud. In fact, I didn't even realize how soft the ground actually was until I got out of the truck. This is with a base model XL, so no FX4 package or mud/ruts mode. I'm pretty pleased with the performance as this is one of the exact reasons I bought this truck. My old 2WD Nissan Frontier would always get stuck in these situations. I know it's not super impressive or anything but I just wanted to share.

That’s great to hear. Especially with the stock street tires.
I have not had mine in the mud yet but I still carry a tow strap under the seat, in case I ever need to pull a Toyota out.

Nice! Just curious, did you run it in any of the other modes through that? Or just Normal Mode?

If you're happy, it's impressive. Just from the pictures, I'd say, "That's impressive!"

I had a similar experience right after getting my Eco FX4. Went to a county fair and the parking lot was in a field. 4X4 Trucks were being diverted through a bit of a bog and cars were being diverted to a drier portion of the lot. I went to Mud/Ruts mode. They had several teenagers with backhoes and nylon straps to pull anyone who got stuck (and they were already covered from head to toe). Some of the ruts from previous trucks were pretty deep but I went for it anyway. Never slipped a wheel that I could tell and didn't even fling mud onto the fenders.
Like yours, stock tires and completely satisfied with the performance. I was very pleased to disappoint the recovery team.

That's what impressed me the most was just how drama free it was. Just felt like I was driving on dry ground. A little later after I parked I got to watch a first gen 2WD Ford Explorer go rallying through the same spot I just cruised though. It was quite the show.

Just normal mode, don't even think I spun a wheel. It drove straight through it like it was flat ground.
Outstanding!

Looking forward to it. Currently deciding between the Falken Wildpeaks and BFG Trail Terrains. I'm going to wait until I find a set of rims that I like before I get new tires though.
My previous vehicle was a 2012 Escape with the 3.0L. I had Yokohama Geolandar A-T's on it.
Slightly stiffer side wall and worked great on the Escape. Kinda leaning towards those when the time comes. They have an H-T version with a not so aggressive tread so maybe those since I don't really need mud tires and the stock highway tread does well.
