as i patiently wait for my 23 xlt (feb build) , living here in the north east, where we could have snow 5 months of the year, can anyone speak of the performance of THEIR mav in the snow and cold of New England. unfortunately its something that needs to be thought about in any vehicle purchase in these parts!

I have the the AWD EB with 17" 235 wildpeaks. Runs awesome in snow. If you don't get the fx4 I would program in the extra transmission modes as the sand/snow mode works really well in heavy wet snow.

I've had limited experience with my XLT AWD 4K tow. I was able to back a covered snowmobile trailer with one snowmobile inside up a hill and maneuver it into place on a slight hill in my buddy''s snow-covered yard. Despite the highway-oriented tread on the Continental ProContact TX OEM tires, the AWD system did a good job at minimizing wheel spin and maintaining traction.

Right now, my area is under a winter storm warning. There is two or three inches of heavy, slushy snow on the ground and up to four more inches forecasted to fall tonight. I'll get to find out more about my Maverick's snow performance tomorrow!

does about the same as every other fwd/awd car on the market.

TIRES make HUGE difference in snow performance.

running summer tires in winter is just a dingus move.

I have BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK 225/65R17 102H WS90 BW SNOW TIRES on my XLT Hybrid and have had good results with them. They handle the icy situation pretty well. Needless to say, caution is necessary under icy situations. Temperatures have been in the 20's.

Much like insulting other forum members...

The ProContacts supplied on my Maverick are "all season" but certainly not good winter tires. I have severe snow service-rated all season tires (Goodyear Assurance Weatheready) on my Subaru and will get them, or Michelin Cross Climates, for the Maverick when the Contis wear out. I've been extremely happy with those Goodyears.

The Assurance Weatheready are made with a soy oil based rubber compound that stays pliable in cold temperatures, giving excellent dry road cold weather stopping distances, something some other severe snow service rated all-season tires compromise on.

I'm retired, put little mileage on my vehicles and don't have to drive when the weather is bad. When I was working, my job was .6 miles from my house. If I had a long commute to work every day or was driving kids around, I'd buy a set of steelies and dedicated snows (I'd also choose Blizzaks, like FordHybrid).

We got our Maverick and have been on the road a lot. Attached is the MPG since getting it. 80+% of the miles have been hwy with some mountains. A trip to SoCal from Washington state included. We are happy with the MPG considering the hwy driving. Cold temperatures bring down the MPG on EV and Hybrid vehicles.

not insulting other members, just a general observation. i have seen people do it. its dangerous.

running all seasons(actually 3 season tires) in the winter isnt the best idea in northern climates. cold hardens tire rubber. a snow/winter tire is designed to stay soft in the cold, along with the extra sipping that snow tires have.

i myself prefer nexen snow tires. michelins are over priced tires in my book. will rot and crack before you get the life out of them. at least on truck and heavy duty applications they do. i cant see car tires being any better.

Well I just watched the weather forecast for the airport of next week going into Christmas weekend basically it says from the Midwest all the way down to Texas into Florida and up to the Northeast is going to get from a couple inches to three or four feet of snow the end of next week so I guess the majority owners all over that area that haven't seen snowed yet will find out how our Mavericks do in the snow where they are front wheel drive all wheel drive snow tires on them all weather tires or those Continentals good luck to all be safe have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ❄🥶🎄🌨👻🇺🇸

What snow in Texas… Lubbock maybe. But just hearing cold very cold. Worried about my banana trees. Supposed ok to the mid 20s but expect to low at 20. Not common for here so early
Edit now forecast upper teens for my place next Friday. Lost 90% of my potted plants during Texas deep freeze two years ago with power losses.
