Does the Victron use dedicated sensing wires to the alternator?
No it just reads the line voltage. Everyone is over thinking this. It's exactly the same as plugging a jackery into the 12v outlet.

No, it uses an input voltage parameter that you can set manually.

I would also like to know. I just bought my Hybrid and want to install an inverter with an auxiliary, deep-cycle, battery.

Some questions:

1) I have an XLT Lux with a 400W inverter and really only want the second battery for running 12V when the car is off. So I can skip the inverter and just wire up a 12V outlet and avoid the inverter power losses?
2) Is there a way to connect the battery into the car's 12V wiring as a backup source to power all the 12V outlets and USB ports?


I am asking for an Ecobost model.

Update on the inverter/battery install.

. . . If anyone is interested, I'm going to be putting all of the 3D printed parts up on Etsy so that if you want to use the same Battery/Inverter/Monitor you can have all 3 pieces in one go.

I didn't, but I certainly can. Although they would only be the parts for the specific components that I used. I no longer have a maverick, so I cant really do any more fit testing that easily.

The battery tray and the inverter tray are really the only two pieces you'd need. Let me know if you're interested. I already have an Etsy shop (3DProto Lab).

1. Yes
2. Probably, but I wouldn't know how.

For your first question, you'd basically just do what I did and use a spliced 12v adapter to run power to the charge controller, then from the controller to the battery. You could use the inverter (much more plug and play), but then you'd be defeating the purpose of your question.

Did this on my Tremor. The simplest way of doing this is to get an external battery maintainer (4 or 5 amps will do) plug it into your inverter outlet in the truck bed and have the charger charging your auxiliary battery that powers your inverter. Every time you start your Maverick and drive you will be charging your Aux Battery. In my case my second battery is in my bed. I run a small air compressor to air up my tires. I do not involve or or recommend using the vehicle charging system.

Just looking for a battery box or other immobilizer to keep the battery from moving around. I could modify the tray to allow for a velcro strap also, but I didn't have any movement on the battery when I had it installed.

It just sits in the box/tray itself, then the box/tray is adhered to the underseat flooring with 3M dual lock so it's still removable.

I used this cable (https://amzn.to/3YosoyZ) and removed the female end, then just terminated the wires directly into the charge controller. 12' of cabling gives you more than enough slack to route the cable pretty much however you want to.

Sorry, to what and how is the charge controller fixed? In the pictures, it looks to be attached to the top of the battery.
