nice write up. most of the inverter setups I've seen are for hybrids, which have an advantage in that you can leave them running and they simply start and stop the gas engine as needed.

what's your method of using this camping etc? how do you know when it's time to fire up the engine and recharge everything?

I do agree with you Dad , great setup and detailed instructions. I bought a Predator 350 power station from Harbor Freight for other uses 2 months ago. After seeing this post I believe that it will work as well for this application as it charges from solar, 120 VAC, and 12 volt inputs. Not the same solution, but would work in lieu of OP's installation.

Yes that is the more budget friendly and weekender style approach but if you’re looking for a more serious setup with constant use. Then this is the way but I contemplated getting one of those actually!
