I’ve noticed that the moonroof on my ‘24 stops about three inches from being fully opened. And requires a second button push to fully open. Really not a big deal, but was wondering why it doesn’t just fully open. Any thoughts? I just find it odd.

My 22 did that too. I think it's to cut down on the wind noise.

It's just giving you the choice of partially open or all the way. That's my guess.

The last 2 vehicles I had before my maverick did the same thing.

🤓 my 2017 titanium escape did the same thing.

My Audi was the same way.

Opening it "all the way" would cause loud wind buffeting at certain speeds with all the windows closed

I figured there had to be some reasoning behind it.

Yes to the wind noise but it's even deeper than that. The "stop" is as far open as you can get it before it becomes uncomfortable for your ears. Not just the noise but in many cars when the moon roof is fully back it does this weird wind buffering thing with your ears. It's pressure, a little pain, and 100% annoyance. I learned this after complaining about it years ago on my audi.

Me: '24 hybrid with moonroof, and I too have wondered that. I can't tell any difference in wind or noise in either position, whether the rear window is open or closed. I do notice that above 60mph the wind noise is much louder.

Since SoCal freeways are mostly slow and go, I use my moonroof a lot and in conjunction with the electric rear window to control the flow. I like the feeling of the wind in my hair.
