Auto dimming headlights not working

Auto-Dimming headlights? I'm confused with this one...

You can change the setting in the Menu, OR just put the headlight knob on "ON". It's only in "Auto" mode will it auto high beam.

That's what I thought he meant
I just drove home last night and the hi beams kept going off and on depending when traffic was driving the otherdirection. It is very annoying. I rarely if ever use my high beams except to maybe light up a street sign when I am looking for someone's house. I hate the stupid things. I hope it is as easy to turn them off as it says above. But I am not going back out to the car tonite since it is so cold out. Thank you for the info.
