Anyone tried 225/50ZR17 tires?

I want to try some lower profile tires, on 17" times-

Even though it's not a popular choice, any comments???

Maverick wheels already look a bit undersized for its body.
Going even smaller will look bad.
Not to mention your speedo and gear ratios will all be thrown way off.

everything is exaggerated by going down 3 sizes (65 sidewall to 50).

a 225/50-17 is way too short unless you have slammed the truck 4+ inches with airbag or coilover suspension.

even with a short tire, there are better choices. 245/50-17 as one example.

Other have done it, but your fuel economy will suffer by about 2mpg.
