He has a few different options. Someone on my thread asked a similar question so I checked his site. Looks like he doesn't have the USB option listed anymore. I ordered the " Ford Maverick Cubby Mount | Phone Mounting & USB Charging" option. I did have some issues with the shipping. Label was created the day after I ordered but the tracking never updated. Was told he had issues with the labels and had resolved them. Ended up messaging on etsy and he said he ran out of a few components and had to order them. I would reach out to him on Etsy or direct email him [email protected]. Took a little while for him to respond when I tried contacting him. Awesome product though so hopefully he doesn't discontinue it. There have been several iterations so could just a new version in the works.
I have one on order from him with the USB ports option. They're still listed on his site as available and I'm looking forward to getting mine soon. The hard tri-fold bed cover from Realtruck which I ordered weeks ago is still in the wind...that's the big-ticket item that I'm anxious to see arrive.

I still do not see the option I bought listed on his site. I only see the coin, switch, drawer, and grid phone insert. No USB options. Keep in mind the option I bought totalled around $90.

Oh okay. Thats his etsy store not his actual website. I'm going to assume that is just the insert. The USB Module itself costs double that price. Like I mentioned, I paid $90 for my kit from his website and he ended up running out of a few components. I would assume it was the module since everything else is either 3d printed or easily obtained from a local hardware store and he removed the product not long after I ordered. The insert comes with a lower plate for both the USB module and a blank cover plate. I would make sure to reach out to him about it on Etsy. I was able to get a response from him there. Worst case scenario you can just buy the module, butt splice and ground terminal loop yourself.

You are correct: the module is not included or available, apparently...the Etsy page shows the insert with the USB but my receipt from him says I've bought the 'lite' version of the kit. Hmm.

I feel like a 'bait and switch' victim. I can still use the cubby insert with my phone holder, and I'll see if the module is available elsewhere, I guess. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah you will get the same insert I have just no module. The link I gave in my previous comment has the modules for $40-$50. I was expecting a USB C + A module with mine since that is what the main pictures show but ended up getting the USB A + A. Luckily you will be able to pick between the two and to be honest you will be spending less than I did for my kit. Your $25 insert will come with a front plate that the module clips right into. I do not know if they come with the cables or not so that would be something to look into. His etsy listing could be a bit misleading but the $25 price tag was enough to figure it out imo. I did mention in my original post that the product I ordered from his site was no longer listed. That being said, he could definitely do better with the business/marketing side of things as but the product is top notch so I shrugged off the minor inconveniences. Did you ever try reaching out to him?

Yeah, I dropped him a message. Where did you find the module and wiring? The Molex site doesn't have the USB A + A except in bulk and I only need one...

The third option on this link is what you want. it should be the same one that I have. Minimum purchase of 1. I am not sure if it comes with any wiring. Looking into it now.

Much appreciated, sir!
$21.62 each at Newark.com, in case you find yourself in the market for another one...same part number too.

Nice! So you're gonna need to find out whether or not that comes with a cable or not. You will need a fuse tap and a 7.5A fuse. As well as whatever type of connection you want to use to connect the tap to your power and a ground loop terminal for your ground wire. I'd highly suggest watching Akro's video on how to install it so you have a better idea or what you will need. For some reason it won't let me insert links into text anymore so here is the actual video. Keep in mind that is a previous version of his mount so it looks a little different but the process is the same.

I can't tell you how many car phone magnet solutions that I have returned for not being a solid solution or not having a strong enough magnet. Combine that with the fact that I want the solution to be in the Maverick cubby hole next to the display, and I have just been pulling my hair out. Either the unit as a whole falls out of the cubby, or the magnet is not strong enough to hold the phone over bumps.

Who (if anyone) has a truly solid solution with these features:

  • no magnet insert requred between case and phone
  • noise free over bumps
  • stay in the cubby without falling off, or the insert falling out of the cubby..

If someone has a solution which involves switching to a specific iphone case, I will also consider that option.
I put in a magsafe anker charger. Took the console out, drilled 1 hole in the back corner of the cubby and ran the wire down the vent to the usb outlet. Holds my phone and charges it (i also got a wireless airplay dongle) without any visible or rattling wires!

Yeah, no wiring included with the Newark offering but no surprise. The video is what made me think it was part of the kit, but I'll definitely be referring to it when I get started. It's a great idea as a kit, and it's too bad that he decided not to offer it anymore. If I want to do this for others maybe I'll take it on...after all, I'm semi-retired. 😏

Yeah I feel the $90 was a good price for everything he offered. He was a bit slow to respond to me and I tried on 3 different platforms so I'd say give him a bit. At the very least he could link you exactly what he used to include with the kit.

Lisen MagSafe phone mount on Amazon. Works really well if you have a MagSafe phone case and if not they include magnets to attach to the back of your current case.

I bought a Lisen, but a little different one. I did have that question though about the need for the magnet if you have the magsafe phone case. Have you found the hold is strong without adding that supplied magnet?
