Only the hybrid has the eCVT. All Ecoboost Mavericks have the 8 speed auto regardless of fwd or awd.
Yeah, I know, that's why I ordered an ecoboost back in July instead of a hybrid. Read the post, I'm not too enthralled with CVTs of any sort. tom

Just curious if anyone else ordered the 2.0 EB engine WITHOUT getting AWD?

Initially, I was going to order the hybrid engine but opted for the 2.0 instead. Don't really need AWD in Florida, and the one AWD vehicle I had was when I lived in upstate NY. Having said that, some decent all weather and/or snow tires usually did the trick with all of my FWD vehicles.

Opted to not get the upgraded FX4/tow package as well. Don't need it, and if/when I ever get around to towing something, even though I opted to get the hitch installed. Better to have it and not need it, just in case.

Anyone else go this route? What was your logic in not getting AWD?

*** As an edit, when at the dealership placing my order, it was almost like the salesman was pushing for me to get the AWD as part of my XL package, maybe "just in case" I decided to not take possession of my order. Better resale, perhaps? Or an excuse for ADM? Any thoughts on this?
I ordered Lariet with 4k tow and 2.0 ecoboost but in FWD on 8/7/2021. Had to update to AWD when ford changed 4K tow had to be AWD. It was a free upgrade ( well, 2220.00 credit) also from Texas, pulling Bass boat.

I'm in California. I ordered the EB without AWD. I have a 4WD F250 so I bought the Mav in 2WD to replace a company car I lost when changing jobs.

I ordered the XLT FWD with EB - Don't need AWD (Wife has a Subaru Forester with AWD and we get maybe 1-2 heavy snows a year at our VA location). Also, the cost wasn't justified - $3,300 extra for AWD is over kill.

The AWD gets the independent rear suspension whereas the FWD gets a trailing twist beam. Not sure why they did 2 different suspensions. My 2018 Escape FWD has the same suspension as the AWD. Independent rear suspension. Only difference is the AWD had a larger hump in the rear seat area to accommodate the AWD driveshaft. Wondering if the FWD Maverick sits lower than the AWD?

Here's an article about the rear suspension: https://fordauthority.com/2021/06/2022-ford-maverick-suspension-borrows-tech-from-fiesta-st/
exactly one good reason for AWD. Independent rear suspension

AWD sounds nice for performance reasons and weather reasons, but then I'm not building a street racer nor do I live in an area with lots of snow. I just couldn't justify the cost of AWD since I don't need it. Course, I didn't need the Moonroof or Tonneau Cover either.

Lived in Northern Nevada (Reno area) for twenty years and now in Connecticut and never "Needed" a 4WD or AWD. From my observations it seemed most of the vehicles that lost control were the 4WD and AWD because the drivers were overly confident. Maybe not having 4WD or AWD makes drivers a bit more careful in the snow?
I know what you mean about over confidence. In 1996, I bought a new Sonoma SLS pickup in the Bay Area near San Fransisco. When the project was done in early February, I pulled an old escort station wagon home when a snow-ice storm hit central Texas. While just chugging along in 5th gear, driving slowly so I wouldn't break traction on the ice patches, I was passed by a Land Rover going about 70 mph just before going under the mile long interchange on the south side of Fort Worth. On the other side of the underpass, as I chugged out of the shadows into the bright sun light, there, on the left side of the road, the Land Rover was on it's side and the young woman driver was crying on someone's shoulder. Here was someone that didn't understand the physics of anything on ice.

My wife drives a Subaru Forester as well. Great minds!

I firmly believe you should buy exactly what YOU want, nothing more and nothing less.

Three Grand defeats the purpose of buying a small cheap pick up unless you are towing or off roading.

Went for AWD for the tow package/cooling and the rear suspension.

Also for peace of mind pulling my boat/trailer up the boat ramp. Don't want to be that guy getting stuck on the ramp.

🙋‍♀️We just ordered ours 2 days ago, and also originally wanted hybrid, but we waited to long and it was not an option any longer.
We live in MA, but honestly, the roads are usually taking care of, and we don't need AWD.
We opted to get the FWD, to save money. We added the hitch receiver, carpet with floor mats, and spray in bedline.
Now we wait ⏳

The most important decision was made by Ford in offering a front 2WD instead of the usual rear 2wd seen in other trucks.
Front traction will make a difference also with snow. I have seen rear WD trucks doing very bad with snow, even with winter tires. (Unless you load a couple of hundreds lbs of sand\soil.
