New here, wanting to upgrade my steel wheels prompted me to find this group. Has anyone run LP Adventure wheels on their Maverick? I've had my eye on the LP Adventure LP1 wheels that Tirerack sells, I saw them in a review for a Maverick on youtube but I couldn't really justify spending $255 a wheel. Now they're on special for $160 each tax free if I pick up from their warehouse nearby in Delaware. It seems like the company caters more to the Subaru crowd but Tirerack says the size they sell was made specifically for the Bronco Sport and Maverick. I tried searching here and on the FB group with no luck. A little over 25lbs per wheel would work well for when I upgrade to better tires when the Continentals wear out.

Well since nobody chimed in I decided to be the guinea pig and actually went for a wheel tire package. It just made sense to get it all at once based on the cost savings of the discount for picking up at the warehouse and no sales tax in Delaware plus free mounting and balancing and road hazard warranty for 2 years. Pretty happy with the quality of the wheel and the look with the larger 245/70R17 Kumho Road Venture AT52 tires. I had purchased the rough country 2" strut lift on Black Friday for $539 (Purchased from Jack It, free shipping and no sales tax, awesome service) and was going to wait until I found tires and wheels to install it. With the lift there's no rubbing and the tire and wheel package is just under 5lbs heavier than the continentals on steelies.

I really like the seating position a lot better, before I felt like I was at the same level as most cars. The lift was pretty involved to install although I'm just a wannabe mechanic and had to follow directions pretty carefully and youtube a lot. I noticed that the stock rear shocks had pretty much zero rebound at just 6,000 miles. When I took them off I compressed them to compare to the RC shocks and they were very reluctant to return. Not sure if they were defective but I feel like shocks should last longer than that. Also, I found a lot of things wrong with the Maverick, bolts that weren't torqued down properly, wires that had little to no tape on them connecting them to the anchor points. All 4 of the small screws holding the plastic cowl pieces down were loose and the cause of an annoying rattle I hadn't been able to track down.

I took before ground clearance and ride height measurements but I'm going to wait for the suspension to settle down before I take the after measurements. It definitely seems like more than 2" to me so I really think it's going to settle a little. Going to take it for an alignment this weekend

I've been wondering about these wheels! Granted I'll have the ones that come stock with the FX4 package but these ones really caught my eye. Love the look of your Mav with the new wheel/tire package and lift, anxious to hear how the 2" lift works out and if you run into any other hiccups along the way!

Thank you for being the guinea pig with this, it is interesting to hear that some bolts and underpinnings weren't properly secured. Fingers crossed that this isn't a trend throughout the truck and only on those areas you spotted.

That is a pretty good looking wheel. That lift really makes the look with those tires though. Well done and congrats! I am finally ordering my new tires and wheels this week too

I have been a fan of the wheel ever since I saw it on the driving sports tv channel but couldn't see spending $260 a wheel so at $100 off each I couldn't pass it up.

For anyone interested the wheel specs are:

LP Adventure LP1 Wheels 17x7.5 +35 offset and they weigh in at around 25lbs each.

Also, based on an article I read from Toyo I changed the tire pressure from the stock recommended 35psi to 28psi and it made a world of difference in ride comfort with no apparent impact on handling. Apparently according to Toyo when you go up in load index you actually want to lower your tire pressure. Each tire has a different load rating based on it's pressure and load index. The stock tires had a 102 load index equating to a load rating of about 1900 pounds at 35psi so based on that you want to find a similar load rating for your new tire size and load index and adjust pressure. For the 245/70R17 tires with a 110 load index, 35psi would translate to something like 2400 pounds of load rating. At 26 pounds of pressure in the 245/70R17 tire it equates to a load rating of about 2000 pounds so I bumped it up to 28 instead of 26 giving me an effective tire load rating of 2100lbs which is more than this truck will ever use. If I can figure out how to adjust the TPMS settings for it to recognize the lower pressure I might change it to bring the tire pressure down to 26psi without setting off TPMS alarms.

If anyone is interested here is the Toyo publication.

I also plan on doing a chalk test on the tire tread to make sure I have a good contact patch at 28psi.

The wheels look great. Is there rake on the RC lift? It looks like the front end is higher than the rear

Just to give a heads up on this tire and wheel package, I am having a problem with the Kumho tires. After putting a few miles on them there is a thumping noise which corresponds to a pulse/thump in the steering wheel. It's very pronounced at lower speeds and when I drive faster, maybe 50mph it just translates to extreme road noise. One or more of these tires is definitely out of round and unfortunately I'm getting the run around from Tirerack as they have been no help so far in getting this taken care of.

For anyone considering the Kumho Road Venture AT52 I would say DON'T and possibly avoid TireRack as well as their customer service seems to have gone downhill since being purchased by Discount Tire Direct.

Update: After dealing with an extremely rude customer service rep at Tire Rack I asked to have the issue escalated to a supervisor like a true Karen. I hate to be that person but I didn't appreciate the customer service rep's tone and how dismissive he was of my issue. Supervisor told me that my only course of action was to bring the tires in for a road force balance on my dime and get reimbursed. I brought it in today after work and sure enough one of the tires has significant road force so Adam at Tire Rack, eff you, you condescending A-hole. Of course the supervisor is gone for the weekend so I sent the invoice with the road force balance results and will wait to hear back on how they want to proceed.

So this is BS considering Tire Rack claims that they perform road force balancing when they mount and balance a wheel/tire package so obviously someone dropped the ball and now I'm inconvenienced since I've already had to make one trip for the balance and will now have to wait for a replacement tire, hope that it's not also out of round and then go somewhere to have it mounted and balanced and that's IF Tire Rack even agrees to replace it.

Love the truck man! In your opinion are the wheels a light or darker grey?

Wondering if that same color you got would look good on my Avalance Grey Tremor. If they're too light thhough I think it likely wouldn't be a good fit, because I've been looking at darker wheels and thought that lighter wheels might clash with the gray - but in the pic you post they definitely look darker than on TireRack.
