Hi all, I'd held off on posting until after I got my truck back from the dealer but wanted to share at least one story about the shifting/clutch issues in the hybrid Mav that has a happy ending. (So far)
At about 6,000 miles I noticed my truck having some intermittent engine issues when climbing a steep or long grade. It would feel like a clutch slipping in a manual or an automatic not downshifting to gain power. I'd be going up a grade and struggling to maintain speed, soon enough my foot would be pinned to the floor, the "% Power" gauge would be stuck at 50, the engine would be screaming as much as a little hybrid can; and I'd be crawling up the hill at 45-50 mph.
After it happened a few times it finally popped a CEL so I took it to the dealer who identified the issue as a code P0811 or "Excessive clutch slippage." The dealer's had my truck all day today and was able to confirm there's a leak coming from somewhere in the transmission casing. Due to the low miles on the rig they're going to replace the entire tranny instead of tearing it apart in search of gremlins and band-aid fixes.
No idea what the lead time will be on parts and service but I wanted to at least give a shout out to my small-town Ford dealer for not telling me I was crazy and addressing the issue promptly.
