Is the acoustic windshield on all models? I thought it was just on the Lariat and was thicker. I got a good size rock thrown on my windshield and only suffered a small dimple which isn’t even noticeable after Safelite filled it in?
SoundScreen acoustic windshields are included on Maverick Lariat only. All windshields are laminated glass - inner and outer panes of glass with an inner layer to hold it together in case the glass cracks/shatters. SoundScreen adds the sound dampening feature.

There's no indication on here that Lariat windshields fail much more frequently than XL and XLT glass, so we can't say that SoundScreen is a weak point.

SoundScreen® acoustic windshield and side glass are engineered with acoustic dampening technology within the glass layers to help reduce road, wind, and other exterior noise to maintain the quiet interior ride of the vehicle. The use of this technology goes above and beyond SAE standards and not using this will result in increased interior noise.
https://media.ford.com/content/ford...aunches-new-ford-certified-glass-network.html

Carlite’s SoundScreen technology is a key component of Ford’s drive to make vehicle cabins quieter. SoundScreen windshields use a sheet of specially-developed acoustic vinyl sandwiched between two layers of glass. It reduces noise levels by as much as 6 dB at certain frequencies and 2 to 3 dB overall, meaning conversations are clearer and more intelligible.

SoundScreen technology also saves weight — as much as seven pounds per vehicle — because the glass is thinner than in conventional windshields while offering superior noise-reducing performance.

Mine cracked in first week of ownership from a dump truck rock . Apparently having a sign on the back of your dump truck that reads "stay back 200 feet-,not responsible for damage to your vehicle" absolves responsibility???( Bulls#@t !) The crappy Ford windshield is the only complaint I have about my Maverick. I truly love this truck.
Know this is old but trust me, those signs are there to deter you from pursuing them. But a commercial vehicle is required by law to secure their load. That includes every little Rock and pebble in or on the trailer.

But people see the sign and think they can't and don't. Saving them the insurance claim and hassle or a police stop when you call them in.

Signs cannot disclaim your way out of liability. Those who you might attempt to hold liable are not going to provide you legal advice on how to hold them accountable. Just a couple things to keep in mind.

Even a signed waiver doesn't fully sign away all of your rights. When in doubt, feel free to obtain actual legal advice (which this post does not constitute).

Problem is most people get the crack, the truck drives away and they have no way of knowing who did it. Exactly what the trucking company hoped would happen.

Even with stopping immediately is hard to prove. My friend drives truck and someone pulled up to him at an exit ramp claiming a rock cracked their window. Police were called. Police couldn't determine what happened and told both to exchange info. Insurance never paid out on the claim. No proof other than he said she said. And he wasn't hauling rock or dirt. So a rock kicked up from the road isn't you're fault.

Basically unless you have dash cam video that clearly shows something coming off of another vehicle and impacting yours before you're reasonably able to react, it's hard to hold anyone else accountable for it unless they fess up. That's the real meaning behind the signs - we'll try to get out of being held liable for any mess we cause. Good luck proving it.

I just wanted to pass on information here that some of you may not be aware of, and this obviously only applies to a stress cracked windshield, as the OP stated the dealership did the " ballpoint pin test" and found a point of impact that caused this crack. Ford warranty only covers the windshield for stress cracking up to 12 months/12,000 miles from the warranty start date(purchase date) and not for the full 36/36 "bumper to bumper" warranty. In short , check your windshield for any hidden mini cracks that may not be in eyesight prior to your vehicle reaching this 12/12 milestone for Ford to have a chance to cover it if defective or improperly assembled/installed at the plant. Here is how it is stated on our service printout reports for every new Ford vehicle: c. Windshields replaced for stress cracks are limited to 12 months / 12,000 mile coverage

Not covered by insurance?
That is a good point. My auto policy has a $500 deductible, so the warranty only saved me $500. I’m still glad I got the road hazard warranty.

I'm in the club now too, got hit on the highway this week (never saw it coming, just a big WHACK...thought it came through the windshield for a second).

Not sure what it was but probably driveway gravel off someone's tires (very common around here, this will be the 3rd windshield we've replaced in 10 years living here and I've lost track of the small glass and paint chips).

Started out about a quarter size at the bottom next to the Ford labels but deep, was going to be a free repair but the next day after work it had expanded to over a foot long. From the sun maybe?

So going to be a deductible replacement; they can't get a new windshield in until later this week. Scheduled a at home repair since I can't get off work short notice, but worried about calibrating the CP360. Safelite said they can do it either way with the same warranty but a little unsure. (first car with safety camera)
Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Maverick concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Just got my crack. I actually saw the rock at the last second yesterday as it smashed into the window. Within minutes there were spider cracks about a foot long going up and down from the impact point. What a nightmare.

What about the acoustic windshield with the heated wiper park? Has anyone had this replaced? Seem like it would be a Ford only part and not something Safelite could replace. I believe my USAA has 0 deductible on windshields, but I wonder if they would balk at the cost if this.

I caught a rock in the Spring kicked up by a semi that hit my lower-right windshield like a bullet (WHACK!) and left an impact crater and crack all the way across the bottom of the windshield. I finally got around to replacing it in June. My XLT had a standard windshield but I had Safelite install the acoustic windshield as the replacement (not OEM) and paid them my $100 deductible (nothing more).

Unfortunately, exactly one week later, I caught another small pebble from an approaching car on a 45 MPH two-lane blacktop. I saw the little rock coming and it hit the lower-left area of the windshield with a slight "tick". I figured "no problem". When I arrived at my destination a few minutes later, I took a closer look and had a new foot long crack along the bottom of the windshield.

The interior is noticeably quieter with the acoustic windshield but I am convinced these windshields are made from Sugar Glass.

I got my new maverick 3 weeks ago and already have 3500 miles on it. Apparently I got the tiniest chip ever out of the windshield while driving and today split into about an 18 inch crack. These windshields seem to be pretty crappy because my old 2005 truck has massive divots out of it from rocks that will just refuse the spread.

I am on my THIRD acoustic windshield for my 2022 Maverick Lariat! (Original plus two new ones). It is definitely a weak windshield and I think a real problem for Ford. First chip which became a crack was a rock driving in Colorado on the freeway, center of windshield. Safelite looked at it and it was not a reparable chip (before it became a crack). I forget why. Had it replaced back home in N. California at the shop that my Ford dealer uses.

Second crack was a little spot in the bottom passenger side. Did not have it repaired before I had a service done at my Ford dealer. When I picked up my truck, there was a small smashed edge along the top of the windshield (chipped paint) and two massive foot-long parallel cracks coming from it. Totally unrelated to and nowhere near the little spot crack. The service guy I picked up the truck from called me at the end of the day to say the truck was ready so I picked it up at closing time. He never even mentioned the crack. I didn't notice it until I got in to drive home. Luckily service guy was still there and we had it out. But I had to drive home so did not leave the truck.

Ford dealer tried to say they had nothing to do with the massive windshield damage, which occurred while the truck was with them for service! It looks like someone took a hammer to the upper seam where the truck and windshield meet, or that something heavy fell on it or hit it, then the resulting long cracks. It was so bad I had to report them to Ford corporate, had to involve Ford Executive Services. Wish I never had to go back to that dealership but I bought their pre-paid Car Doc service they sell. I figured with inflation it was better to buy it upfront. Nightmare. My truck was in the shop for at least a week.

My son had tried to help me get the dealer to take responsibility and replace the windshield by posting a bad review. When we confronted them together, the service dealer literally blackmailed me and said to take the bad review down (I did not even know about the review at the time) or he would not proceed. So my son took it down. I think the next day I got a call that they had a change of heart and would replace the windshield, using a nearby glass shop with the Ford windshield. The whole experience was appalling. And the service manager is a pastor!!!!!! Total slimeballs at that dealership, especially the sales manager I ordered the truck from. But that's another story. It's unfortunate, because there are also a few great people there too.

What a shit show.

I don't even bother with reviews now. Most are fraudulent anyways or from people still in the "honeymoon" phase of receiving their product and they have no actual clue if it's a good product.

Anyways, the service department should do a walk around of the vehicle first to inspect for any damages and make a note of them. If there is no evidence of that, I'd get a lawyer involved.

Also, please go ahead and warn everyone what dealership this is so it can be avoided at all costs, and go ahead and slap that review back up there just to spite their terrible service and mention that they threatened you if you didn't take it down. Either way, sounds like a great case for a litigator.

would an XLT to be able to "upgrade" to the Acoustic windshield like a normal windshield replacement?
