This pertains to the 12V power outlet, formally known as the cigarette lighter port.

It is documented here as staying on for 90 minutes after the ignition is off give or take with a good SOC on the battery. I decided to power my dash cam from the 12V port to utilize the 90 minutes on time to power the cam while parked shopping or running errands. If I need longer I will just use a power bank.

I started to notice that during very cold weather say 20F and below the 12V port will not stay on after the ignition is turned off regardless of SOC. It has been crazy cold here for a long stretch but today a heat wave to 40F and the 12V port is working again with the ignition off.

This all had me going for a while and thought I would share this. After over 2 years if ownership I am still figuring out my Mav.

🤔 My dash cam is plugged into the 12V cig. Socket. It has a glowing blue light.

When I shut off the truck and and open the door, the power to the socket turns off immediately. Video below.

Sorry, it's dark to show the
light/Power turning off.
Even with a good charge on the battery, 12.6VDC with the engine off, my blue light was still going off as soon as I opened the door. Today, different story.

My battery is fine full interior and exterior lights, when I open the door.
60° in the garage.
Regardless of temperature.
I have never had the "cigarette/12V socket stay on for 90 mins.😯
Edit:
I'm still running on the same flooded battery original to my 2023 truck.
The only thing special I've done is pulled the 11/12 fuse.

Been some debate about that here. Some say shorter times, some longer. Apparently it is adjustable via Forscan. These modern vehicles do a lot of weird thing electrical wise. Not necessarily bad, just weird, different. Takes some getting used to for this old timer.

I’m still trying to work up the confidence to cleanly install my WolfBox 900 GS that’s been sitting on the shelf in my garage…

I'm still waiting on warmer weather to do the permanent install on mine. Youtube has lots of videos. Be careful installing the wiring in the A pillar as to not interfere with the air bag located inside. Make sure you have a plastic trim tool crowbar. One came with my camera.

The wolfbox is a nice dashcam.

Thanks for the heads up - looks like quite the project though

Your camera and mine both have a rear cam so yeah, that makes it more involved but very doable and well worth it in the end. I narrowly avoided a head on collision from a crazed woman who veered into my lane on Xmas Eve Day. I ordered the dashcam as soon as I got home. 😀

I agree that is definitely a good reason to move forward with the installation I need to open the boxes and connect the entire system before starting the install and of course watch a number of videos I know there several options out there how to approach the install - thanks and good luck

Good evening, all.

I did my own install of a front and rear dash cam..so it can't be rocket science. ;-)
I did the whole looking at several videos to do it, and was glad as one finally mentioned the care needed for the A pillar install to make sure not to interfere with the airbag.

I wanted a simple, clean install and went with a plug (Amazon) that goes into the OBD 2 data port. The plug has a switch on it for power all the time, or only when power is on in the truck.

This is a very simple, clean way to do the install and my system has been working great. Power stays on when I leave it parked at a mall or store (you know why) and I turn it off/unplug when we get home.

I don't trust electronics, so I just unplug the system when it is in our garage. This is so the battery doesn't suddenly get drained. It makes sense to me.

Just search for an OBD2 power port for dash cam if interested. I bought 3 just in case one didn't work, I still have it, just in case.

My Rove camera (X2) each came with the plastic trim removal tool...you need that to make life easier and less of a chance of damaging the trim.

I hope all goes well for you on the install.

Have a good one,

Andy

We are on holiday in Cancun, but this should get you started in the right direction. Price is in Mexican Pesos.

This link and example is not the one I have, as I can't verify what I have at the moment.

The max time to sleep is 75 min pre-25MY. 60 min newer.
So power port shouldn't stay on longer than that.

Considering the charging amps even changes depending on the battery temp - I wouldn't be surprised if the BMS system see too much of a difference between discharge to charge amount logged, and due to short drives or low charging when cold - it cuts off power earlier.

Since the SOC is calculated figure, it knows it can't totally trust that until another relearn happens after a few days.

Service Manual
Battery Drain Check
Check
NOTE: No factory-equipped vehicle should have more than a 25 mA (0.025 amp) – 50 mA (0.050) draw depending on the vehicle's accessories. Check for current drains on the battery in excess of 25 mA (0.025 amp)
– 50 mA (0.050) with all the electrical accessories off and the vehicle at rest for at least 75 minutes (depending on region). Current drains can be tested with the following procedure.
