Android Auto shuts off radio in my XL

Every time I connect Android Auto in order to use Maps, the radio shuts off & I cannot turn it on. Once I unplug my Pixel 5A, I can use the radio again. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so, what is the fix?

AA may be trying to launch a streaming service. Somewhere in the AA settings is a flag to start certain apps by default. I don't have it in front of me to look. I can tell you mine does not do that.

There is a setting on the phone, something like "restart audio on connect." Turn that off.

That's it. I had start music automatically turned on.
