Third camping trip with my Hybrid and towing a teardrop trailer, no problems. Love it.

Cape Breton is beautiful. Been there twice. Didn't run into your craft beer place, but had some of the best seafood chowder ever. I love my Maverick, but camp in the desert at Big Bend. No picture of the Mav loaded. I'll save that for the next trip. Have fun with your new transport.

Looks like you were in the Bay St Lawrence area. How was the road getting up?
You mean the service road up to that view? Itā€™s rough but easily manageable, pretty washed out on a few of the hills but otherwise in good shape.

Lucky for us there is no shortage of ā€œbest seafood chowder everā€ places out this way. šŸ˜„

That was the the road I meant. I got my 2 wheel drive truck stuck up there in November many years ago. I had to walk out to the village.

How big of campers are y'all managing to tow at 2,000lbs (hybrid max) ls or 4,000lbs (turbo 4x4 max)?

The Bed holds a good bit more in the bed than I expected.
Turns out bicycles don't need their front tire removed to fit despite all the suggestions to carry bikes.
It's not a bad size for our weekend camping trips too. Would want a bigger camper for longer than a weekend though.
We're getting around 20-21 mpg towing this 1,500 lb RV with the turbo XLT.
How bout y'all?
We're still waiting to take deliver of a hybrid that's been on order since Nov 2011.
Considering trading in this gas guzzler when it comes and limiting ourselves to 2,000 lbs.

Just spent 3 days running around the Cape Breton Highlands in my Maverick XLT. Iā€™m actually not a huge fan of camping, but typically tenting it puts me closest to the best fishing spots so I grudgingly do it. I used to drive a Focus and then a Mazda 3 hatchback, and while the hatchbacks are handy they fill up quick, especially once youā€™ve put a decent sized cooler and a bit of fishing gear in them. I was able to load the Maverick up with everything camping and a ton of fishing gear, with lots of room to spare. The truck was comfortable, plenty capable on the steep grades deep in the highlands, and small and nimble enough that there was no issue in some of the tight spots. I even took the Maverick deep into an old washed out service road to get to a backwoods hiking spot and had absolutely no issue with the badly washed out gravel road. And after all this driving up and down the highlands, dirt roads, and plenty of highway driving, I still managed 7.7L/100km (30.5 mpg). I canā€™t imagine any other vehicle that could give me this kind of utility and comfort for a camping road trip and still giving me 30mpg in challenging conditions. And doing it in style I might add.

Yeah itā€™s no issue with the awd Maverick, Iā€™d hesitate to try with a 2wd truck. I read reports before I went up there that people were driving civics and minivans up but thereā€™s no way right now.
