If you are wanting a center pole without a grommet, you could use one of the fiberglass poles with frisbee, I would use two to make it ridged, attached to the top of the pole. The frisbees would keep from cutting or ripping the tarp.
This is such a great idea! I used a long stick, rounded at the end and bunjee corded to my rack for the centre raiser lol

Redneck engineering was good enough for this weekend, but I appreciate these tricks so much to improve overall for the future!

We can all learn from each other's camping hacks.

Just for general safety of skin and splinters or what for? Sorry just want to be sure I understand
They are made a little rough to "not slip" when inside concrete. You may want it smoother and it might weather some after use. Just consider the possibilities. I have not used any of the fiber glass ones yet, just the regular steel.

Absolutely! One of my favourite ways to learn from mistakes is also that made of others; though, I find a way to make enough of my own so that is likely for the best!

Thank you kindly! With fiberglass I suppose keeping them sealed and in good shape when not used for intended purposes is likely a good idea, I have no intent of having another fiberglass sliver in my life. In that case, might just wrap it in Gorilla tape and call it a day.

All this talk made me want some coffee while I was letting the pups out to do their business.

Driveway coffee.

Full swing hockey will be here before we know it.

Nice thing about SiriusXm on my phone, I can listen to the games while camping.

Seems like the sport has become frustrated enough that I am lucky I fell out of interest years ago, though, it sure does not help to be in this seat for making conversation around here!

Another hack I do to save the tent floor is use a moving blanket as a rug. Adds cushion so easier on barefeet in there, plus adds insulation.

I picked mine up at Harbor Freight, guessing Princess Auto or Canadian Tire would have them.

I got the biggest they had in stock. It is a little smaller than the 10'x10' floor space but plenty of coverage for my cot and walk around area.

Oh, that is such a great idea! Speaking of similar but different, do you do a tarp under the tent? We usually do, but I am finding it frustrating to put away 2 things that are wet (from the water that gets between and doesn't dry) rather than just letting the tent free drain against whatever it's put up on

Yes. I use a ground cloth under the tent. Do you have parts of yours still outside of the tent? I roll any that is larger than the tent, showing beyond tentbfoot print, under its self so none is showing

I haven't had a problem with the tent floor getting wet, only the bottom of the ground cloth. When I was a wee boy scout many moons ago we used plastic sheets as our ground cloth. The Gazelle t4 tentbI have came with one, so I place it down and set the tent up on it.
