Air Design tailgate spoiler install question

Do you know if the wing covers the entire top of the tailgate I installed a Retrax PRO XR Manual Retractable Tonneau Cover w/ T-Slot Rails so it does go over the tailgate like 1/2” - 3/4” but there is about 1/2” between the top of the tailgate and the bottom of the tonneau hard cover? Thanks

I have the Ford part I installed with just the tape 2 years ago and it is still tight. I have the Ford trifold tonneau cover and it fits perfect. I also go through carwashes a few times a month.

I bought some black Permatex adhesive to help the 3M tape..So far so good...I live in the Mojave desert so I will find out if it holds this summer....

So I got the roof wing also, and at it came with a tube of urethane like adhesive you put on with a caulk gun along with 3m tape. The tailgate wing attaches to the textured part of the tail gate and i really dont think 3m tape only will be enough. If you installed yours did you do 3m only or did you supplement with adhesive? Im debating screwing it down or using some liquid adhesive lol i dont want it to come off.

Use some adhesive promoter before sticking it down with the tape. It's NOT coming off.

yeah my wife has a bronco sport and we did the window visors from ford and we did the adhesive promoter and rubbing alcohol and we had one pop at the car wash. Just something about the non painted textured surfaces that makes me leery i guess. Especially how expensive the parts are I would hate for me the to be the first one they popped off on lol i dont want it to ever come off. Ever like never

BTW, installed in the fall winter. We'll see when the hot summer weather hits. Either case a great addition to the look. Most importantly it helps me with judging the tail end. Good luck

Exactly.
This is the same tape that automakers use for every emblem and body add on they use.

The technology is beyond well proven, not sure why there is so much concern about the results. As long as the surface prep is done correctly, that is clean, the adhesion promoter is used, and the tape stays clean after the protective plastic is removed, 3M tape is tenacious.

I’ve had mine on for over two years now. I run through an automated car wash at least once a week, no problems whatsoever.
