Air Design Fender Flares - Finally Installed!

Looks good on your truck!! It blends in nicely with the dark color truck!!

I opted for the Bushwacker fender flares on my HPR Maverick. I had them color matched painted by a body shop and installed. I didn’t want them to look out of place. I wanted a little more rugged look for my little truck.

So you’d rather install a bunch of Chinese knock-off crap on your truck rather than high quality “made in USA” products?
US made plastic isn't inherently better than anyone else's plastic. We make lots of cheap quality shit in the US too, but still brand it "Made in USA".
And at the end of the day, if the machinery that made the product loses it's job I won't lose any sleep.

Do you have a molding or something between the flare and the body?

The fender flare has a black rubber gasket that goes between the flare and body. The fender flares attach with the existing bolts in the wheel well so no new holes have to be drilled.

They certainly look way better than the Bushwacker brand. How much $ did those cost?
I'm not dissing the Bushwacker, they just look bad unless you have giant tires that will extend out to the edge of the Wacker. I do like the Air Design, just hoping for something in between (without showing the mounting screws as the wacker's do).
EGR out of California makes a set of fender flares that look to me to be in between the Air design and Bushwhackers.

Thanks, I already have a set that I like and for the right price too!

How much additional tire coverage do these give you ? I have looked for the answer and can't find it .

almost none, I did not get them to extend the fender, they sit flush against the factory painted fender. I got them because "The Twinkie" had too much yellow and I needed to break it up a bit.
Even My Mav #1, Atlas blue AWD had 265/60/18 tires on it and the stock fenders covered the tires enough not to sling dirt on the paint.
In my opinion, I do not like giant fender flairs that stick out past the wheels & Tires.

I see your next Maverick and my first Maverick are scheduled to be built in the same week. I want the additional tire coverage because of a lot of dirt and gravel road trips. I hear the paint is really thin on Mavericks, so want all I can get covered. Here's to hoping both of our new ones get built and shipped promptly !

Finally got around to getting my Air Design fender flares installed today! They've been sitting in storage for almost a year now. It seems like a super easy install, but I was hesitant due to having PPF installed on the front clip, so I took it to a local body shop to have done. They charged $100, which I didn't mind. $25/flare felt reasonable enough. Not the best pics, but I'll clean it up soon and try to post better. (It looks a little extra shiny near the flares because I didn't feel like washing the truck with rain coming soon, so I cleaned the install areas off prior with some quick detailer).

OP, I am a Silverado owner, but I come in peace. I can’t find any info on these on Chevy forums and how they adhere to PPF - there’s just no info out there that I can find. I also have my front clip covered in PPF and I want these flares. Yours look great! Any issues with them now, a year + on? Did the PPF present any issues? I spoke to AirDesign and their rep told me to remove the PPF, but that really doesn’t seem necessary and not a step I’m willing to take.

thanks in advance!!

Hello,

I'm very curious how these compare to the Mabett flares. For starters I knew that the Mabett flares are short about 1/8" to 1/4" in fitting the fender openings 100%. Not all corners but some.

Another Mav owner posted that when spilling gas on his Mabett flares, the plastic discolored.

I've learned when building scale model cars that plastic is not plastic is not plastic. Meaning that there are several variations.

The Ford Air Designs mention being painted in a satin black which looks cool and adds to durability.

So I'm very very curious about fit and finish.
