Air Design Fender Flares and Factory Splash Guards

There are a few threads with pics and info on installing the Air Design Fendeer Flares. Ford wants $669 for the set, but they can be found for a fair amount less. I know they are expensive and maybe not worth it, but my question isn't about the price or worth. I would like to know who has successfully installed the the Air Design fender flares WITH the factory installed splash guards (aka mud flaps). One post says they can't be installed together, another shows them installed by @UberGadgetFreak, but he says " they don't sit quite right yet". Just wondering if others have had success with these two accessories getting along with each other.

FWIW, I know now that I should never have ordered the splash guards, not only because the constraint issue, but also because they are overpriced compared to alternatives. Too late--order's in. However, my truck is "in production" this week even with the splash guards.

You could use a Dremel and where it meets the fender flare and trim it a bit. I suck at doing that, so it would look janky as sin. Honestly, it doesnt bother me at all how they sit with the gap at the bottom. Unless you really look closely, you don't notice it.

Thanks that feedback, @UberGadgetFreak. I, too, wouldn't be good at the dremel thing, so it's good to know they'll work as is. It seems like the fender flares would address the issue of the stock mud flaps wearing the paint off, too, (details in another thread)--albeit an mighty expensive method.

Just discovered this thread today………..
I put both on mine last spring. Dremelled out a notch on the ADs. The black adhesive included with the AD’s installation kit fills in any mistakes. Not difficult at all. I suggest a helping hand for fitting things. Then let he truck sit for a couple days while everything cures.

Thank you, @Larrythelunatic. Plenty of photos in good light to help me see how you made things fit flush. Gives me encouragement to splurge on the AD flares. I really like the look, but didn't want to create more headaches if the two pieces can't be fit together.

Lower on the doors for the side moulding my opinion.....I installed Sport Wing moulding on lower door .Look ok body color match....
