No, we're not in that business. The Stinger unit I linked to in my original post, I think, is the best solution for a project like this because the screen is thin and connects to a control module via a single wire similar to the OE radio on the Maverick where the screen connects to the APIM behind the A/C controls. There will be some customization around the bezel installation to hold the screen, but I don't think it will be too difficult.

I'm doing this for a couple reasons that I care about but others may not. First is that the Stinger unit allows for the connection of up to four cameras to give me a nice view around the vehicle as-needed. I'll be able to retain the OE backup camera via simple RCA adapter but then I can add a camera to the front, one on both sides, or maybe a high-mount camera pointing into the bed. Second is that it has an actual HDMI input which I can connect my phone to for the mirroring everyone keeps talking about, but I can also connect a variety of other smart devices like an AppleTV or XBOX. And third is that the unit has video outputs so if I install headrest monitors, or an overhead monitor, I can control the video to them from the dash.

Well as a fellow audiophile I am definitely interested, my "in my head plans" for now to install a media player below the AC controls like an Alpine ILX-407, new door components probably focal or morel. Rear seat delete with 2 15's (if I can fit them) 4 channel amp for the mids/highs and of course a mono block for the subs. This is of course after adding sound deadener, acoustic foam and MLV to the cab and doors of the maverick. When mine finally gets built.

If you are a true audiophile, there is no need for 15" subs. True audiophiles use 8" subs.

Subwoofer size has NOTHING to do with it. There is no reason you cannot use ANY sub size. It is ALL personal preference and install.

But it does, but then again, how many people in this forum placed 3rd (many years ago) at IASCA Finals? For the Sound quality it makes a huge difference, now if you want SPL, then that is a different story but when people use the term "Audiophile" then sound quality is what they like, not SPL.

Well as someone who was a IASCA WF Certified judge for both SQ and SPL, I can honestly tell you from my experience, sub size does NOT matter.

Ok, let me see what my brain can remember, Marky ran 12s here is a link to a forum showing an article on his kicker ford probe, of which I judged that car a couple of times including WF and Spring Break Nationals. https://www.caraudiojunkies.com/showthread.php?5127-Markey-Dietrich-1994-Ford-Probe-GT-2002-AS-amp-S

Steve Head - a personal friend and again running 12s I watched this car being built several times, and judged it several times as well. https://www.caraudiojunkies.com/showthread.php?2060-Steven-Head-1994-Honda-Civic-EX-2002-CA-amp-E

Fred Lynch - not only a car I have judged but he is a personal friend and was a Teammate when I ran Image Dynamics in the SPL lanes in 2003/2004. Oh and he ran 12s - https://www.caraudiojunkies.com/showthread.php?5500-Fred-Lynch-2001-Volkswagen-Passat-2001-CA-amp-E

Scott Buwalda - another personal friend, I have heard his cars but never got the opportunity to judge them. He ran 15s and has MANY MANY wins and titles under his belt with black betty. https://www.pasmag.com/extras/indus...-and-hybrid-audio-technologies-the-best-still

Other than a "crank it up contest" back in '82, I've never been around competitive car audio, but I do have an ear for quality. That said, does size really matter? Or is it how you use it?

Both placement and quality play a huge part.

As a certifiable person whos town vehicle has only one speaker and whos daily driver just has a flip phone with MP3s downloaded on limewire in 2003 tossed on the dash. My only concern with this thread is can I get rid of the stupid 8" tv screen in the middle of the dash? I want knobs, buttons, anything other than a bright ass touchscreen to distract me while driving. Those things are rediculous, how is it safer to navigate a intangible digital medium while driving than to turn a knob and listening while keeping your eyes on the road?

I plan on using the JBL ms8 and upgrading the speakers. This allows use of the factory head unit and decent sound.
