I know dealers are looking for every penny they can get, but in this current financial upheaval what do you consider an "acceptable" ADM?

Fact is, you're probably going to pay some "market adjustment" if you're gong to drive away with a Mav, so what's that amount?
$8000?
$5000?
$3000?
$10,000?

I've located one that I can buy in the next few weeks (scheduled production begins next week) but the dealer wants $7000 ADM. It was ordered but the buyer backed out. The vehicle is pretty close to what I'd want but I think this is absolutely ludicrous when I can just wait and order in 3 months and probably have one to my spec in 5-6 months. My local dealer promises no ADM and will put it in writing.

What's your take? I'll likely wait.

As far as I'm concerned, no ADM is acceptable.......wait for your order unless you are dire...

Agreed. I'm not desperate but the dealers are saying that people are fighting over who gets to pay ADM. I don't really doubt it as they're actually selling with these ridiculous markups.

I'm not desperate and can't justify extra money just to keep their lights on and mortgages paid. Just curious what others are okay with, as obviously some are paying it.

I have two Mavericks on order, but would still be willing to pay $2-3000k ADM to get one now, if it is the right build. As for ordering in August and getting one in 5-6 months, I don't see that being likely either unless you are getting an Ecoboost. I am at 6 months now with no build date so I would expect 9-10 months for a hybrid unless the chip issue clears up. There will probably be a lot of 2022s that get rolled over (mine probably included) and those "should" get selected first which will set you back further.

Ford Maverick ADM on vehicles ordered but unclaimed? 4EF9A5D0-D2C8-4337-AC28-5DE70D7A3B47

I have purchased a Maverick off the lot at MSRP and purchased an ordered Maverick with 4% off of invoice. There is no reason to roll over and pay those mark ups, unless you really want to.

Dealer called. FYI, the Maverick I located and had the opportunity to purchase had an ADM of $9995! They won't budge, $26,840 available to buy at $36,835.

BUT! They also have a "used" Lariat they got at auction with 180 miles for over $40,000.

Both get a hard pass from me. I would have been willing to throw them a few thousand but that's just robbery!

Ford priced the maverick at exactly what it's worth. It's a cheap vehicle made with cheap materials and very little options (when comparing to say an f150). I understand people can do with their money as they please, but these markups are absolutely ridiculous and I'm not sure why you wouldnt just go buy a loaded ranger for some of these prices.

A dealer called me the other day and had a lariat hybrid available.... $7500 markup. I about fell out of my chair. I paid below invoice for my Ecoboost (plan discount) and I'm extremely happy with it. I would be extremely unhappy with it if I paid any sort of dealer markup

Once supply chain issues are resolved, the money spent on adm is gone into the ether. No one is going to give half a crap that you overpaid when you bought the truck... So it'll be a total loss on resale. That makes it really hard to consider any adm acceptable unless you are absolutely desperate for the truck and losing money daily without it... And since a stopgap vehicle could be purchased if necessary, that caps the max adm even in those cases to whatever an alternative (old ass ranger/S10/etc) would cost you.

I just bought an alternative vehicle for $4000 + $500 taxes and tags + $200 on some repairs. I expect I could resell it and get at least $3k back, even outside of this market. So $1700 would be what I would say is a max if you are desperate for the truck now.

Great point about losing money daily, and no recoup on ADM. I did the exact same thing, bought a $4500 vehicle and put about $200 into it. It's worth every penny still, and has been super reliable, so I'm not in a rush.

I don't see any end in sight to our supply chain woes. We're looking at at least 16-24 months until we get anything approaching 'normal' (and that's probably a best case scenario).

IMO, the only thing way we see ADM markup go away anytime soon is if we see a severe recession (or a dramatic increase in MSRP... or both)

Of course aa severe recession will also cause overall vehicle production to drop... potentially increasing the value of used vehicles as supply is further constrained.
