how far do you want to go with the security on it? I can do a Salto Neo Cam Lock for around $500, then you use a smartcard, fob or mobile app to unlock it. you can't pick it if there's no physical key.

(I'm joking. I guess there could possibly be commercial vehicle use for this, but mainly, joking. :cwl:)

I just bought a 2024 Maverick Lariat with the Tremor package. Earlier today I was thinking that cubby needed a lock, then, bam, I find your post. I may want to see if I can get a steel door, but meanwhile, the link for the locks you posted are: "designed for 3/8 inch thick doors". My door appears to be more like 3/16", but I think my door is the same one as the one in your picture. (Of course, you're a pinball wizard and have such a supple wrist, and no doubt can make things happen 😄) Thoughts? thanks

Those round key locks are harder to pick
I'm not sure what you mean by round key locks, but I had a 3/4" thick steel cable lock securing my $4,500 ebike, and a tweaker opened the lock in seconds with a Bick pen part or other tool and stole it. Of course the plastic cubby door could be pried open with a screwdriver, so any kind of lock is better than none.

The nut will adjust it tighter and yes the threads are thicker to accommodate different doors (like Arcade where they use wood doors on the back) but those locks will work. They are commonly used on steel coin op doors like pinball.

Pardon if this was posted already but didn’t see anything. Being in pinball and arcade hobbies, I have lots of different locks to try.

You can add a lock to the cubby in the bed with very little work. You will want a 7/8” cam lock. You’ll need to carefully file the hole to the edges so the cam lock fits. Thankfully you can see the marks.

A 7/8” wrench to tighten the nut to the lock, a T-20 torx to take the old lock apart, and a #2 Philips for the attaching the cam. (note I used a different style lock that used a metric 10mm nut so YMMV) Some locks may require flipping the 90 degree cam so the lock and unlock match what the door shows. I had to do it to mine. You’ll want to use the flat cam and not an offset one.

Thanks for the tip. I found some covers on Amazon and some locks that are outdoor rated (they have a door inside covering the key slot). Took a little customization, had to shorten the bar and bend it in to get a tight close but very happy with the outcome. Thanks again!
