I was pretty surprised to notice that ACC with speed sign recognition slows down when there's a sharp curve or a roundabout ahead. It's a cool feature, and I'm curious how this works (does it use map data or does it detect the "sharp curve" yellow arrow signs?) but it just slows down WAY too much! Is there anywhere to adjust this, like we can adjust the tolerance for speed sign recognition?

Also it's kinda dumb that it'll slow down automatically for a sharp curve ahead, but if you put on your turn signal to take an exit it doesn't slow down! 😄

You should use your turn signal to change lanes. You would not want to slow down to merge into traffic.

I just did about 1000 miles with the ACC system, but I kept the Predictive Speed Assist turned off in the Driver Assistance Menu which is what does the dynamic adaptation to speed signs and road geometry; I prefer to control those speed adjustments manually.

I never had the slow down before passing problem that some people get with ACC, I just apply the accelerator as I am approaching someone going slower and pass, or if the passing lane conditions are clogged, just let it follow until the left lane(s) are sufficiently cleared out of idiots and then initiate a pass.

I don't like to pass at the set cruise speed most of the time anyway even with dumb cruise, I like to complete the pass and get back in the travel lane as quickly as reasonable and I don't ever like to see traffic stacking up behind me, avoiding "slow idiot at the front of the line" syndrome. Plus close proximity to other drivers playing Candy Crush as they drive, big rig tires on their last legs ready to explode, etc - not really where I want to spend my time. :)

I find both of them useful and a lot of fun for many driving scenarios. But then I recently put the ACC through a rather challenging test on the western PA turnpike in dry sunny weather. Traffic was light on this Sunday. What I discovered was quite surprising. (Anyone reading this that is not familiar with the steep inclines and fairly sharp curves of this turnpike will not appreciate the anecdote.) I set the speed at 80 mph and simply tucked my left knee lightly under the wheel to satisfy the touch sensor. Then I just let her go. Some of the tighter turns going downhill proved to be a little unnerving but I resisted the urge to intervene. The truck hugged the lines like it was on a track. It was actually quite a rush. I continued for around 15 miles and the ACC never disengaged or popped a warning. Upcoming slower traffic was handled with aplomb and automatic braking was smooth. So as far as I'm concerned, this system is everything I could have expected and probably more.

It's fun to have in certain conditions, but it has its limitations. I use it in single-lane traffic where you're just following the car ahead and can't really pass

When I ordered the truck I was hoping to add a comma.ai setup but the 2025s have encryption so it looks like that isn't going to happen 😕

I understand these features are MY25 AAC features only? I have a '24 Lariat and am not aware of them.

I couldn't tell you on the '24 but in my '25 the predictive speed assist (speed limit sign recognition + adjusting cruise control accordingly) wasn't enabled by default. I had to go into one of the menus to activate it

Where my 2025 ACC becomes a problem for me is in traffic on the X-way and some knucklehead decides to switch lanes in front of me. I have it set on 4 bars, so there is room for someone to slide over, but it's a pain. I switching it off

I am occasionally forced to drive one of our newer Volvo trucks with that stoopid adaptive cruise control.

Count me out on both the cruise and the Volvo truck.

I just finished an 1100 road trip and love the feature. Passing through Atlanta at 2 am some idiot in a corolla next to me just swerved into my lane in one of the curves at the north end of town. I had to swerve to the right to keep him from hitting me. With the ACC on, the steering wheel will normally provide resistance doing that unless the blinker is on. There was no resistance at all this time and thinking back, I believe the truck sensed the lane encroachment and initiated the lane change before I reacted. It all happened so fast Im not sure if it was me that noticed first or the lane keeping feature.
