I was just wondering if anybody on this forum has had issues with adding an accessory such as grill lights to their truck then having some electrical issues and then the dealership saying that because those assessor’s we’re not installed by afford authorized dealer the void the warranty?

i’ve purchased some grow lights from refinedatruck.com (which side now are really horrible, I had them for just about a year and they already no longer work the LEDs just burnt out and they no longer work)

however, I had this weird issue where periodically not all the time but periodically or in intermittently, my right headlight would blink. When I turn my blinker on I brought it into the Ford dealer that I bought my truck from. They were able to reproduce the issue and they claimed that my grill lights are causing this ground out issue which is causing my head light to blink and they’re saying that because of these grill lights I have void my warranty because they are not installed by afford authorized dealer.

I think the thing that pisses me off about this is that my maverick has 32,000 miles on it. It is still within the warranty foreign markets this truck and even uses the term hacking and gives you projects to “” hack the electrical in the bed for instants but there is no fine print stating that a Ford authorized dealer Hass to do it and Ford is not willing to back their warranty

I know that I was rambling and I apologize I just wanted to know if anybody else had a similar issue

Disconnect the added accessories. If the problem goes away, you have your answer. If the problem is still there, take it back to the dealer.

That’s literally what I asked the dealer to do and they refused to do it, and they said that even if they disconnected it because the harness was placed into with the new grill lights, I avoided the warranty. It pissed me off.

Ok, so they refused. Disconnect them anyway and see if the issue is gone. If it is then cool. As far as your warranty being voided, I'm no expert but I don't see how they could give you any flack over anything outside of a future electrical issue. Maybe someone else with better knowledge can chime in about that.

I will probably do that in the next couple of days maybe bring it to a completely different dealership

Update

contacted Ford motor company and they just kind of punted the ball which is to be expected.

Good morning, Tim. Thank you for reaching back out to us. Ford does not recommend any aftermarket changes for Ford vehicles. If our customers do wish to modify their vehicles, we encourage them to perform vehicle modifications at their local Ford or Lincoln Dealer to ensure New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW) coverage. I would recommend continuing to work with your servicing dealership, as they would be in the best position to provide further assistance with this issue with your vehicle's headlights.

Ford Service Team”

I’ve contacted my dealer again to see what they would do and specifically asked them if they would be willing to test again with the grill lights unplugged. We’ll see what happens. I’ll even be willing to unplug it for them.
