If all the UNIQUE features offered by Ford Maverick are not something you care about, then go with something else.

These UNIQUE features include:
1- Hybrid Engine (high MPG)
2- Relatively Low Cost
3- Small in size but highly utilitarian

Everything else is the same as all the other competitors, or other competitors have their own benefits that this one doesn't have.

I do think the only other alternatives that offer better reliability are Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline. All other trucks are going to be equal or worse in quality, reliability, and depreciation.

The only problem with Tacoma is that they tend to be way overpriced and they can be problematic with certain model years. On top of that, they are kinda boring to drive. An SR5 quad cab with a basic 2.7L engine runs about $32,000 MSRP. That's about $9000 more than a base model XL on Maverick. Appreciation will favor the Taco. In 5 years, the residue value of the Tacoma might be still around $23,000 while who knows what Maverick's value would be (it all depends on its reliability).

Ridgeline is in a completely different price range.

Residue is never worth a lot!

It kinda does if you finance. Say that you financed a car with car loan of 5 years with 80% of car's MSRP, in 5 years if the truck still worth more than what you owe, then it's much better for you than being up-side-down.

Just received an email stating my 2023 XLT was finally built and shipped on Oct 23, 2023.
Should I reject an end of the model year build?

It has been 13, almost 14 months since ordering, I think I've really lost interest and might prefer a Toyota. Really ticked off about the long wait.

I'm concerned about depreciation since the 2024's are about to come out. Plus, concerned about the quality of the build with the UAW strike.

Or should I just accept the order and flip it for a competitor?
I felt the same way. Stopped paying attention. The call was a surprise from the dealer on a Wed. I figured I'd at least check it out. I told him I'd stop in on Sunday in case I change my mind. That was 9 months, 10,000 miles ago. 😎

If you want a Maverick, and will keep it for 3+ years, I think the 23 is a better truck then a 24. Value wise, in 5 years there will be no differance between price, but a 23 will have more features, and be more desirable to a buyer. (just my opinion)

It's sounding a lot better, that's for sure.
There is no garantee that every problem on vehicles gets taken care of when then next version comes out. Recalls have been issued on vehicles that were built after the first year with problems that the first year cars never had. Build them cheaper for more profit, and more problems arise.

For all the problems, I'll purchase this truck for these reasons among others.

These UNIQUE features include:
1- Hybrid Engine (high MPG)

3- Small in size but highly utilitarian
I also view my purchase as a vote toward shifting the market toward more reasonable options for the masses and more choices. Even with the 2024 premiums it still seems to be a front runner in value for $$$ and available choices like hybrid.

I could care less about BAP, LUX, Higher Trims, etc. They will always be there and it's where margins are made which is great for those who want it. However, the availability and affordability if core utilitarian features is great.

Perhaps the insanely low price was planned on Ford's part. Knowing customers of the first few runs would have to deal with some heartache. It is pretty well know their margins are quite low on this vehicle. If you view things in that manor it makes a lot of sense that the cost would rise. As long as it still stays below competition (which is has) while giving more choice of build, it's a clear winner.

I hope other manufacturers shift to compete, it would help all us consumers. I also wish that I could still get the hybrid option for MY22 price. However, I have to work with the way things are today. I'm glad I found this truck/vehicle option as it still seems the most ideal for the cost/utilty crowd. I'm happy to have gotten my 24 Eco FWD build date (eco made most sense for me today). It will be a great truck and possibly hold it's value really well until other options arise.

Tried to order a 2024 Ranger through Mullinax. Got nothing but BS run-around and excuses. I'm done. I'll take my business elsewhere.
