I've had my Lariat FX4 for almost a year now and enjoy it as well. It replaced another Maverick because I enjoy them so much. It's the most comfortable vehicle I've ever had. The size is perfect, plenty fast, good handling, soaks bumps well, and the bed gets the job done for the most part.

The two drawbacks are the cheap, scratchy interior plastics and as of late, my fuel economy has been terrible. Lots of city driving since I only have an eight minute commute to work and I've only been averaging 21-23 mpg. That's pretty much V-6 territory. On the highway, I typically get 30-32 but I'm rarely ever on that to begin with.

My sales manager has a 25 Lariat AWD Hybrid on order that I may or may not get. And it's supposed to get 40 mpg city which would be fantastic. I would surely benefit from that. But something tells me that I'm gonna end up passing on it for affordability. The sticker price is $40K and change and that's just way too much for me.

And yet I’ve only had my 24 new special order eco since late July and nothing but ā€œbattery save mode onā€, transmission lugs and chugs under 15 hundred RPM, won’t downshift, lights don’t work properly, pissed off! Have appointment at dealership on Tuesday prolly to find more shit! Time for a trade in unless they can fix this crap!! Sorry to vent people.
Fill with 93.

But yeah, if you have these feelings you should trade it in because you won’t undoubt the Maverick. Not a match for everyone. Best of luck with the next vehicle!

There are programs that turn the 8 speed to a 7 speed. Mavericks second and third gear ratio's are basically the same.
The Maverick already has a 4-5 lock out and operates as a 7 speed

Same here dec 9th is 24 months and 28k miles. My 22 xl ecoboost has been a lot of fun to drive and has had no problems ( dealer came to the house for recalls). Mpg average 26-27 more on highway and less in city. I ordered a 24 xl hybrid to replace my 22 xl eco for better mpg but despite dealer and ford rebates i decided to keep my 22 xl ecoboost. I believe i made the correct decision.

After 8 months and 5,644 miles, I am still happy with my truck. No problems and only one recall for the taillights. Over the last 1,600 miles the truck has averaged 29.3 miles per gallon in mixed driving. The ride and handling are great. It is the best riding truck I have ever owned. I have owned nine Rangers prior to the Maverick and say in all honesty the ride, handling, and gas mileage are all much better on the Maverick.
How are so many Maverick getting good mileage? I have a 2024 XLT offroad. I’m averaging 19-20 mpg in town and 27 mpg on the freeway. I’ve a modest driver.

It's you. Driving around trying to keep the rpm's low as possible and lugging the engine. Like driving a manual and lugging the engine in the wrong gear. Probably trying to get that tenth of a mpg out of that poor truck.
I don’t want to keep the rpm’s down, I don’t give a shit about mileage, just a tranny that works like it’s supposed to! It’s an automatic, how do I put it ā€˜manually’ into a lower gear? Don’t have drive, drive 1 and drive 2.
