The newest addition to the Flexbed USB charger lineup: Style HP (High-Powered).

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MaverickInnovation

Designed for utility: Style HP can deliver up to 65w at 20v, enabling it to charge power banks, jump starters, and laptops while on-the-go or when using the truck as a workstation. There's also a power on/off button for additional control of what you charge and when.

Plug-n-play: Connects to the OEM 12v Flexbed power-points on the left/right sides of the bed and mounts flush to keep it out of harms way. Installation is tool-free and takes <5 minutes.

Does the maverick switch off this port after you leave the vehicle?

I’d like to leave something plugged in full time, but not need to worry about a flat vehicle battery.

There are two systems at play regardless, it's important to note that the circuit behavior is the same regardless of whether something is plugged in or not.
  1. Normal Operation: circuit is powered for as long as the PowerPoint Timeout is set for. Default for most years/trims is 90 minutes.
  2. Power Saving: circuit turns off as soon as the key is removed or when the battery voltage drops below a certain level.

In most cases, if the battery is dying it's not related to the accessory. The power draw of the accessory when it's not charging anything is negligible.

I ordered the older style and have to say I am very happy with the price and the quality! I ordered mine last year through Etsy.

If you want or need this type of additional power, this is a good way to get them as they look like the same quality as mine.

I give 2 thumbs up to Maverick_Innovations as I appreciate good work.

And mine plugged in just as easy as can be. If you can put a seat belt on, you should be good to go as it is that simple.

Have a good one,

Andy

May be a dumb question, but how do you get 20 V from a 12 V system?

It's part of the USB-C PD ("Power Delivery") standard. The charger can ramp the voltage up or down to match whatever the device requesting to charge is. This is how power banks that are typically only 3.5-7V can charge laptops (which usually require 20V). The other USB chargers can only step-down (which typically ends up being 12v), which is both easier but also limits the power output.

Interesting, 65W @20V is still 3.25 Amps (not a lot of heat)
I think heat ends up being the primary limitation since the module uses passive cooling in an area that doesn't have great ventilation. 65W seems to be the best middle ground, it's more than enough to charge my jump starter and run my soldering iron when I need. I'm sure there are higher wattage aftermarket options out there, but there's a smaller number of people who would really need that.

Fnirsi 100w smart soldering iron. My typical use hovers around 50-65w and works better than most I've used before. I like that it's compact and fast, which lets me use it for projects or on the go.
