Hi everyone, first post on here. Figured I’d share my experience for those that might be in similar situation. I could not find any info online about the Maverick launching and retrieving a boat at the 4K tow limit or benefits of trailer parking with shorter wheelbase. I’m in the Florida keys where lot space is limited and have a 22’ bay boat that I park on the side of my house. My neighbor across the street parks his truck half in the street which makes it impossible backing in my 22’ bay boat on the side of my house with my F-150 Lariat. When swinging F-150 the opposite direction to cut the trailer I’m about 1-2’ shy of clearing neighbors truck. As an experiment, my good buddy let me use his 4Runner to launch and park my boat to test with shorter vehicle and it worked great. My boat on the trailer probably weights right at 4K lbs so my original thought was to get a 5th Gen 4Runner which can tow up to 5k lbs. I was hesitant on getting the Maverick as my boat would be right at or over the max tow limit depending on load. My neighborhood boat ramp is two blocks away and the ramp is only a couple years old which gave me confidence I would be fine even with smaller vehicle. What ultimately made my decision was savings on 24’ model year and I pulled the trigger on a Maverick Lariat last weekend.

Since yesterday I’ve been really happy with the truck but have yet to launch and park my boat with it. It was the perfect day to test the capabilities of the lil truck as it was raining and tide was low, making the ramp extra slippery. The truck did great! Not only did it have no issues pulling boat out, it also allowed me to easily park my boat due to shorter wheelbase and length. I pulled the boat in and out several times to get it the boat level on trailer so ramp was definitely wet. No issues whatsoever - truck felt like it had enough power and grip. Do I recommend towing at the 4K lb capacity long distances? No, but for short distances and boat ramps with medium to slight decline I think it should perform fine. Hope this helps someone else in a similar predicament. Love my Maverick Lariat!

Glad you like the truck. Trouble asking the neighbor to park differently? Sunk cost at this point but cheaper to have a conversation then buy a new car.

Neighbor is nice and moves truck whenever I need. There is nowhere else for him to park without a portion of his truck being on street. I needed new car anyways and don’t like relying on anyone else if I want to take boat at night or early in the morning, which I often do.

Thanks for the write up!

I'll be launching my brother's tritoon which is right around 4k with trailer etc ... BUT it'll be going into and out of a lake and their launch is a gravel path leading into the (sand) lake bed

Since the back wheels have to go far into the water I was worried about traction the first times, but my MDX on summer tires never had a problem so I'm not expecting problems with the Maverick either

That’s a lot of boat and the trailer wheels are a long way from the Mavericks rear axle.
Boat and trailer weighs 4,200 or so, cool.
You should have 10- 12% of that weight on the tounge at the hitch for stability.
420 to 500 pounds on the hitch ?

Sounds ok for short low speed trips.
I’d worry about a jack knife at bigger speeds just a little.
I’d want trailer brakes if I was going anywhere.

Looks good.

FWIW I found slippery mode puts half the power to the rear wheels for an even distribution at both ends.
I’m sure you put it in low on the boat ramp.
That Ecoboost will make it feel easy peasy, won’t even break a sweat.

100% agree. Anything further than a half mile I’m using my F-150 and my trailer has brakes

I have to admit, I was disappointed that this wasn’t about the 2025 awd hybrid with 4k towing.

Maybe your neighbor needs to get a Maverick. 😀

It would be essentially the same.

photographed above is a traction exercise, not a horsepower one.

I'll give mine a tow test later this week and post it. I'm going to fetch a car on my dolly and take country roads all the way home.

It sounds like the neighbor ought to look into a smaller truck or a bigger parking spot haha.
I can't imagine that parking with his vehicle sticking out in the street is very safe.
