That price is pretty spot on. LoL I will remove my current panels and install baffles and insulation. Was hoping for bigger speaker, but can live with the aftermarket 4” ones. The new panels come with all the clips and oem speakers screwed on. Ford being dumb I guess! But that explains some of the cost for new panels.
I'd just use the stock mounts and go with a 4" honestly. some things aren't worth fighting

but nobody has actual pics or fitments etc. in video or anything. So... it's almost like its a pipe dream.

if you can find that link, let me know... because i returned the 463xf's i intended on using. likely just going to a infinity 4" model instead.
Google Maverick rear speaker replacement and there is a YT video done by a guy who put in 4x6 speakers with no modifications.

I don't know how his fit in there with all of that depth honestly, but the plates i tried using are one of the only proper 4x6 plates on the market. "True" 4x6 speakers produce different sound that is not desirable vs a normal circular midbass driver.

I also don't have the option of mounting this way any longer, as my panels have the inside 4" plate removed.

That’s at least the video I was thinking of. It’s a little more janky than I remember, but I’m sure it worked out well enough for him over the long term.

Not sure about the “desirability” of the 4x6 sound, but I certainly am not an expert. I just see that apples-to-apples, the frequency response reaches lower with the woofer with a larger surface area. I’m sure it could vary by brand/construction.

I’m planning to swap out all the speakers and add a Kicker 200.4 and be done with it. Not exactly audiophile, but a hell of an improvement. 🙂

Heyo,

The easiest way to do this is found here: https://hoelwiring.com/products/kicker-key500-1-plug-play-harness

Make it easy on yourself and just replace the front door speakers, the tweeters, and the rear speakers. There are many "ford specific" kits that are plug and play, and the key 200.4 has a DSP built inside of it. I would choose the maverick option, including the install kit, with the upgraded 16 gauge wiring. While expensive, it is easy to use and will drastically improve things. You'll also want to set the output of the radio to "flat" in Forscan.

As far as the ovular speakers, they do not produce the same sound waves as circular speakers do. They are actually measured as distorted waves, in terms of SQ.

While my "build" isn't targeting perfect SQ, that is what I am going for. Much more of a sound quality than SPL build. We'll see how it progresses, but it was a fail to attempt to put 463XF's in the rear. Magnet may be too large for the given holes, i'm not exactly sure where my clearance issue is / was, FWIW.

Yep, all of that was already on my list.

The six speakers you listed the only ones I have in my non-B&O system.
