$3K mark up at Honolulu Ford

Aloha all, I got word my truck is finally produced and shipped from the mainland. I ordered it in July 21 and am really looking forward to it on the island and also with the hybrid mileage during current gas prices. However the dealer told me there is a$3K mark up. I feel like an order should be respected at the price of the order. I also saw that some others on the thread called a contact person at big ford company and got the mark up squashed. Anybody remember or know who to call before my truck arrives next month? Thanks a bunch

I dont know who to call, but if you tell em go pound sand and you wont pay it they will probably sell it in a week for 5k markup. All Maui lot mavericks when they come in a 5 or 7K over msrp. I ordered from granger, I hope to get it this year but for $3k under msrp.

I remember buying an Expedition from Windward Ford in Kailua years ago. They said every vehicle that comes to Hawaii gets a markup. Theirs at the time (1988) was $2,000. They wouldn't come down, either.

I would think your justification for no increase would be .. you ordered it at the agreed upon price… if not for your order, the dealer would not be having this vehicle in transit.

Sorry this is happening to you but there has been numerous warnings that the only way to protect yourself from dealer ADM or dealer add-ons that jack the price up on delivery was to have a "Buyer's Order" done showing all fees with a final out-the-door price that you agree with signed by you the buyer and the general/sales manager at the dealership.

When you ordered it, they should have had you sign a sheet then that included the price. If so, then you have legal recourse they make them honor it (assuming no fine print that says otherwise).
