You obviously didn't read the comment I was replying to and you are just helping my argument. You aren't calculating your mileage you are just using the trip computer which is a ballpark. And like I said anyone can find a short route that will net you better mileage than you would normally get across a whole tank. If I got on an interstate with a speed limit of 75 and drove 65 on purpose while taking the downhill side then yeah sure I would get better mileage and could probably hit 35mpg also.
I did read your comment and I have used the indicated along with the calculated mpg figures which are very close depending on how much highway driving I do. I've been stating that Tremors will probably best their EPA highway ratings since day one. My comment was based on your claim that driving 66mph sucks but that's just like, your opinion man. I'm just baffled by people willing to lose so much in terms of fuel efficiency just to get to their destination a few minutes sooner. It's also a well known fact that safety decreases at higher speeds, reaction times worsen, stopping distances worsen but by all means you do you.

You DID state that you don't believe that owners are getting the mileage they are stating which is a very strange accusation, how much do you think the indicated mileage is off? I can tell you from the random times I've calculated it it's usually very close. People are claiming highway MPG anyway, you made a claim that they would have to drive 400 miles at 55mph but ya know, that's kind of the whole point of having a highway EPA rating, ya know, driving on the highway, where there are no stop lights and you can maintain a steady speed for a long distance, again, it's called a highway. One more time, highway. Also, I maintain somewhere just above 65mph and still get 35mpg, when I've driven 55mph on a 55mph highway my mileage has been as high as 38mpg as documented here. Clearly though this is all part of a conspiracy and the reality is that Ford pays me to come here and tout the highway efficiency of the Ecoboost motor to try and get more people to switch over from the less profitable Hybrid model. Tin foil hat wearers unite!

Dude you need to take off the tin foil hat and quit acting like I jumped on your post and attacked you. I didn't say driving that slow sucks I said that the mileage he got driving that slow kind of sucks. Everyone drives different speeds different terrains and also different altitudes on the highway or interstate so there for they get different mpgs. And as far as how fast or slow you go is your personal preference but I go 5 over whatever the posted limit is if its a highway or interstate. I'm not going to be one of the people causing traffic jams or accidents by going under the speed limit. I stated that I didn't think people claiming they get 35mpg while doing 75mph is completely true. Sure for short stints in ideal conditions its possible. And once again you are helping my position by stating that you achieve that mileage by going 65 not 75 so thanks.

If my math is right that means you averaged 66mph to accomplish this which I guess depending on what kind of roads you are on does kind of suck. I have no doubt that if I got in my Tremor and filled up at the closet gas station to the interstate and drove to Florida I could pull off 30mpg plus or minus 1mpg going 75mph the whole way. But I don't believe these guys with FX4's claiming 35mpg at least not average across a whole tank maybe instant mpg or short trips. Unless they are on a 400 mile flat road going 55mph the whole way.
Averaging 66mph unless he reset his speedometer once he reached cruising speed at 66mph on the freeway is actually pretty close to 75 mph cruising speed.

Assume for that 100 minutes he spent maybe 5 minutes at red lights and another 5 minutes either getting to speed or in traffic and there is pretty much your 75mph hwy speed for the rest of the trip.

31 MPG in the Tremor at that speed doesn't suck at all. It's pretty phenomenal actually.

I've driven way too many miles on 77 in WV pushing 80-85 whenever I can and nascar pit stop style to pee and I'm always amazed when my trip computer only shows my average speed between 71-73mph.

Doesn't take a lot to knock that average down.

If the (lack of a) lower chin on the front fascia really does cause that big of a drop in MPG it blows my mind that Ford or someone in the aftermarket world wouldn't create a removable lower piece for the front fascia that would vastly improve fuel economy here.

The broncos have easily removable fender flares - couldn't be that difficult.

You have a lot of what ifs in there but if what you are saying is true it makes it even worse. If he reset his trip counter once he was up to highway speeds that would greatly exaggerate his mpg reading no matter what he did the rest of the time.

I love that on my island most of my driving will be in the 45 to 60mph range. Maui is the sweet spot.

Well of course there are a lot of what ifs.

For starters - nobody said he reset his trip computer once he reached speed - I said he only would have averaged 66mph if he actually did that because you said 66mph @ 31mpg is shitty.

As far as what speeds he actually drove at? You would have to chart the average speed for each of those 100 minutes individually to get an idea of the type of driving.

Would also need to correlate that with wind speed, direction, temperature, elevation, tire pressure, payload, fuel type, oil type, etc.

But if you just look at it simply - distance / time = average speed - unless he reset his trip computer once he reached a cruising speed of 66mph.....

Pretty safe to assume his average cruising speed was somewhere between 72-76mph @ 31mpg for the entire trip with starting the vehicle, stops, acceleration, deceleration, traffic, and parking - you get 66mph.

That's pretty awesome on the face of it. You called it shitty. We disagree and that's okay!

Got my Tremor the end of Dec. It has 600plus miles and registers 26.2 MPG which is accurate within a tenth or so when I put gas in it-both times! My driving is mostly on 2 lane windy roads-10 miles to town- with a half mile gravel driveway. I'm a happy camper if it stays in the mid 20's over time! Beats the hell out of the 14MPG I get with my old Jeep Wrangler 4.0L on a good day going downhill with a tailwind!

My driving sounds basically identical to yours. Hill climb driveway, 1/4 mile gravel, 1 mile roughpatch road, 1 mile to work, 18 miles to town, windy up and down roads. I get low to mid teens in my vehicles, if I get 25mpg I will be stoked! The big thing I got going for me is there is no legal reason to go over 55mph anywhere on island.

I have the 2.0 EB Lariat with 4k tow package. I'm just under 600 miles driven. About 65% of that is city, and 35% hwy. My average is under 22mpg so far. I do not have it in eco mode, but I'm driving pretty conservatively. I'm hoping it's a mix of the break in period and cooler weather here in MI. I certainly expected much better.

Do you let your vehicle idle to warm up?

I've only used the remote start a couple of times. We've actually had pretty mild weather for a February in Michigan. It's been between 30-50 degrees for the most part. The only 2-3 times I used it were when there was ice/frost on the windshield in the morning.

Just curious because that will impact your MPG significantly - 10-15% if you're letting it idle for 1-3 minutes each time you start it.
