Nothing showing up on my 24, but seeing posts on other platforms of this popping up on people's Ford pass.

Anyone know if all 22-24 are part of this ???

This is probably one of the most important updates. The camera sucks !

To see updates outside of Fordpass: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

On the bright side, I think this means we'll be getting an upgraded infotainment system, and we won't see as many glitches and freezes after the fix. Of all the possible recalls, I'm happy this one relies on the infotainment system being good.

It's showing up on the Recall page for my account at ford.com

I haven't had any issues with the backup camera (other than poor resolution) and don't really use it, except when I occasionally parallel park. So I'ma wait to get this one done if I have a camera or other issue crop up.

No.
According to the ford.com recall notice, it will be a software update. And according to my notice (quoted below), it is not even ready yet.

Campaign/NHTSA#
24S59/AWAITING
Issue Date
2024-09-13
Description
On your vehicle, it may be possible for you to experience a frozen rear view camera display image while in reverse.
Safety Risk
This may result in a false representation of where the vehicle is relative to its surroundings, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy

Ford Motor Company is working extensively to produce a module software update for this repair. When software becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge parts and labor.

It will be extremely difficult to fix this via a software update of the hardware processing power is not adequate enough.

Lag, freezing etc. seems more of a hardware issue than a software one.

They will try but I think it will be difficult.

Good. Looks like reporting this to NHTSA helped! Now hopefully it fixes this glitch.

Could be as simple as changing the camera app processing priority from whatever it is to real time just like you can do in a windows computer. Won't change the resolution though and may effect another app(s).

Funny my 13yr old F150's rear camera was glitch and trouble free with sync zero.

For those who are hoping for a hardware upgrade, dream on.

I was one of the MTC members who filed camera incident reports to the NHTSA. Nice to see it bearing fruit. And it didn't take that long - months, not years.

So you folks whose Mavericks shut down in the middle of busy highways (at least a half dozen to dozen threads on that) - if enough of you report it, NHTSA will investigate it.

I checked the details. This is advanced notice only, so no repair details or timing given to dealers.

It covers 22-24 Mavericks, build dates 3 Feb 2021- 28 Nov 2023. Over 140,000 Mavericks involved. (They do sometimes adjust the date ranges...so the number of vehicles involved could change).

In all of the affected vehicles, the customer may experience a frozen rear view camera display image while in reverse, resulting in a false representation of where the vehicle is relative to its surroundings, increasing the risk of a crash. Customers may also experience an absent or delayed RVC image.

No other information is given to dealers. Sometimes a timeline is given in the advanced notices, but not in this one (yet).

A complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers when it is anticipated that software updates and repair instructions will be available to support this safety recall.

It may also be that part replacement and reprogramming could be involved, but I think a software update only is the most likely solution.

LMAO, my Jan 2024 built date not covered ? Incredible , as the camera is just as shitty as the one on my old 23.

If they think 24s are fine, then software solution is already there ! Nothing to reinvent right ? Except, nothing has changed.

Right now, yes. So it seems like some sort of change was made in Dec 23??

They do certainly "expand" recalls to cover different build dates, so that is a possibility.

Also, we we know what the "fix" is. Your dealer may be able to do a similar fix under 3/36 warranty?

100%. I filed my report 3-4 months ago.
