Like the 4'x8' long bed as a camping bed feature....but that was about it. Don't care for exposed front wheels/tires. 350 mile range for an EV is impressive...The US has the know-how, just needs to start building a low-cost EV "here". But our federal regulations are a major development barrier.Since this thread touches on small electric trucks (the Slate), I thought readers might be interested in this newly dropped video by Jay Leno - a huge classic car guru.
Then why rolling black outs and brown outs in CA in the summer?People who say "we / the grid don't have charging capacity to charge more electric cars" are unaware that there is more than enough grid generating power RIGHT NOW.
Car can be considered an appliance. Just like other appliances you plug in at home. They take more than a TV set and less than whole home air conditioning.
And power use has been flat for a long time. Weird. Look at which states are using the most power per person! NOT California where like 20% of the cars are EV right now!

Most generating station will beg you to use more power and even give discounts to use more power.
California has not had those since 2001.Then why rolling black outs and brown outs in CA in the summer?
Sounds like it would not work for you....for me an EV has to have a range of at least 150 miles...I just checked GoogleMaps and I have 22 charging stations within 10 miles of my house (Atlanta). Many are sort of hidden in shopping centers, office parks...but some are charging rip-off cost wise. Most of my Targets and Walmart shopping centers have charging stations close by. I travel cross country every year (Atl to Montana, Oregon, etc) and that is why I have a Hybrid Maverick. At least 30-40% of my neighbors have an EV used for mostly going to work (20-30 miles 1 way) and shopping trips. The whole reason I purchased the Maverick is that it isn't an EV.
Not that I have a problem with electric vehicles as such but they don't work for me. Where I live (15 miles out of a town of 1500 with 2 chargers) there isn't enough electric supply to the area to support home EV charging.
I could not even make a trip to the closest Walmart without stopping to charge an EV.
Who would use the Slate? City people who don't really need a truck and can have a home charger.
