I have an XL hybrid on order unbuilt I need for a father-in-law.

1) Could I change that to a Lariat, put a ton of constraints on it and have my dealership put it at priority 21+ so it won't get scheduled.

2) Get a higher private offer for an unbuilt Lariat than an XL hybrid

(Offer on XL maybe is $1500, would the offer on an unbuilt Lariat have more of a private offer?)

3) order a '24 XL hybrid?

You're making a lot of assumptions on how the private offer is to be structured. The Lariat is in some respects one of the trims increasing the least. The AWD Lariat+CP360+Lux+Assist is actually cheaper for MY24 than MY23.

There's no way of knowing. For the 22 to 23s the only thing that mattered was the engine. I had a Lariat Lux with moonroof and all those packages increased for 23, but Ford did not compensate for those.

I doubt it. Last time the offer was simply based on powertrain. I suspect it will be similar this time (but we just don't know yet).

Changing trim levels at this time may be problematic......that usually changes the "order date". That could possibly screw up the order and maybe make you ineligible for the transition! It doesn't make sense to risk it!

The options are just for the truck to not get scheduled. The goal is to find the biggest MSRP gap between 23-24 to get the highest private offer that can be used on a 24 XL Hybrid

A 23 Lariat is 29,915.00 = $28,355+$1,595
A 24 Lariat is 35,730

$5815 increase or private offer 🤔?

That's a smart thinking! I also noticed the spread in price increases depending on the engine and trim this year.

However, as others already commented, last year's private offer was based on the engine (EB or Hybrid), and not on the trim level. So yes, the discount % differed based on what trim level you chose for MY23 but didn't matter at all what trim level you had ordered for MY22.

So, my recommendation is not to play the game and just get what you want with MY24 (or MY23). In my case, I had MY22 XLT on order, but I switched to Lariat when it was time to roll-over to MY23. I know I would have gotten a better deal with MY23 XLT or even XL - but I just decided to get what I really wanted so I even added all the options. :)

Yes but the 24 Lariat includes Lux and other options that were not included in 23. The Lariat private offer will not be that high.

Tim already answered a similar question in another thread and he basically said that Ford has likely already marked what the order looked like when they announced the private offer.
In a few post down he also warned to be careful because if you load it up with options you'll need to be prepared to take the truck if it does get built as a 2023 model in the next couple of months.

I agree that the Lariat private offer will probably not be that high. However, I thought that the ordering system was to allow a person to order what they wanted. A person ordering a '23 Lariat may not have wanted any of the '23 options and now has to pay for them in the base MSRP even if he does not want them. A '22 Lariat rollover without AWD was forced to take AWD and pay for it to get the "23 rollover. Also, if you really wanted a color in '23 that in no longer available, you take what you get; not what you ordered. The ordering system does NOT insure you will get what you ordered.:(:(

I do not know but Ford might as well just crank out a certain percentage based on popularity of the trim and options and put them on the dealer lots. Require dealer to sell them at MSRP. At least we can see them and take a test drive and know what we are getting. Of course, some dealers would play games and get an ADM somehow.

I would think the private offer is going to be based on the 2023 model you already have ordered and don't receive. Each trim level no doubt will have a specific rebate offer. Don't think you can change a trim level to get a higher discount offer then use it towards a lower priced trim level to get additional savings. If it goes by the engine ordered you will be offered a price based on that. I would think 23MY orders will avoid the 24MY base price increases since it was not the customers fault. Be glad Ford is giving 23MY customers a offer to help offset price increases.

I will not be changing a thing on my order.
Ford has hemmed and hawed with words like "should not" and "most likely will not"affect your order delivery but have never come out and said "will not".
It seems like you are trying to push your delivery back.
In that case it may be a good stragegy.

But it's easy for me to not change my order.
The big draw to this truck to me was the inexpensive and the hybrid.
Getting an upper trim level gas only $35,000 vehicle would defeat much of the purpose of this truck for me.
- Just another XL hybrid loser.
