Thats nothing. My mother in laws jeep liberty needs a specialty O ring. Its really a hourglass shape about 3 inches tall and 2 wide. It costs like $15, pricey but its specialty so whatever. I havent ordered it yet because of the places that will ship it to Hawaii the cheapest is $65 and the most expensive is over $100. Yeah Hawaii shipping is always a pain but O ring that weighs less than an ounce and can fit in an envelope. My sister in law is on the mainland for the week aso we will see if she can pick one up and bring it back.

Interestingly, I tried fordpartscatalog .com next and you could tell the backend was identical (during checkout all the dropdowns, cart, etc looked exactly the same) but the unit price was $40 instead of $37.88 and the shipping was $30 instead of $90. I still didn't pay that either, but interesting nonetheless. I don't even have my truck yet (in shipping) but at this point I may as well wait and pick them up when part inventory catches up.

I found the elusive Aeroskin 2 deflector at Levittown Ford for $80 a few months back. They wanted $200 shipping when I tried to buy it. I emailed them and they said they would fix it. A week later they said to try again, this time it was $75 shipping. I asked again and they said that was the right price.

Luckily my local dealer happened to have it in stock.

Tried to order 2 bed cubbies for XL. $89.52 in shipping for 2 plastic parts. Shipping to PA, USA.

Village Ford did the same thing to me , after ordering online paying for the parts including shipping , 3 weeks later they told me they wouldn't ship unless i gave them additional 38.50 I cancelled and i was refunded. I don't know what dealer you used but Bartow Ford shipped the cubby and hood deflector for $12.50.

Not all dealers are signed up to ship to from website. My dealership is not.....closest one that is is about 45 minutes away

Mine isn't also. But they did honor , at the time 20% discount, that the website gave so it was shipped to them without shipping charges to me.

Sometimes the automatic shipping calculations get funky. When I was looking to buy some accessories on one of the dealer's website the tailgate damper would add like $30 to the shipping. Possibly had the weight mis-entered or something; who knows.

I'm thinking it's caused by bad or incomplete inventory control. If it's something that comes individually packeted, with those in a PKG of 5 those in box of 10 and 20 boxes on a pallet. And inventory was received as 1 pallet unit and proper unit breakdown was not properly entered so the shipping cost routine read the weight and size as one pallet because??? Who knows.
