2025 XLT Display stuck on dark mode

My display is set to auto toggle back and forth between day and night modes. Sunday on my drive home from Illinois it was bright and sunny and all of a sudden it went to dark mode and hasn't returned to normal. Checked the settings and it still set to auto. I've tried resetting the display with the seek button and holding the power button with no luck. Mr. Google says ambient light sensor but the auto dim headlights still work. I've exhausted all my ideas.

Can you force it to day mode?

When you say "auto dim headlights" are you talking about the Automatic High Beams or Automtic Headlights ("Autolamps").

That small button looking thing up by the windshield in the center is the ambient light sensor

Auto high beams and only thing I can force to day mode is Google Maps.

Nothing sitting up there. I cleaned the windshield inside and out, even pushed the wiper down to see if it would trigger it to go back to day mode.

Had that happen once on my 2021 Lincoln Corsair - my buddy threw his baseball cap on the dash and it tricked the sensor into thinking it was dark and the display went dark....I was like WTH?!?! Then realized his hat was triggering the autodim feature....

Those use the front facing video camera - not the light sensor.

Do your headlights auto-on when it gets dark still?
That uses the light sensor.

ETA:
Also - the question about forcing day mode - have you changed the setting to remove using night-time dark mode, which would only leave bright daytime mode?
