Hi everyone,

I've been on the fence but finally ready to order a Maverick. Hoping for XLT AWD Hybrid but may settle for XLT FX4 eco boost AWD (need orange-free interior). I understand order banks and specs release August 1 and I have a few questions.

1. Is there an advantage to ordering August 1st vs later in the opening week?

2. I understand this is speculative, but what does the brain trust guess the wait/build time is for AWD Hybrid? I can be patient, just curious on everyone's thoughts.

3. Price increase. I'm having a hard time mathing my "line in the sand" price differential for AWD Hybrid vs AWD Ecoboost. I only drive about 5k per year but I love the idea of hybrid because I'm so cheap I often decline 1-2 hour day trips due to gas prices. (I drive a 13 mpg 1998 Dodge ram) So, please walk me through your thoughts on prices for XLT AWD Hybrid. How much more would you pay for AWD hybrid, and why? No right or wrong answer here I just want to hear other perspectives. Thanks!!

1 dealer allocations are just as important as your national position in line
2 OMG the demand for hybrid AWD is likely to be off the charts. if and when they are likely to be limited availability.
3 while the hybrid is the MPG king in town it's advantage in rural and highway is noticeably less. ECOs get 30ish in those situations. Then you need to figure up front cost vs MPG savings. the less you drive the longer it takes to balance.

Right now the Hybrid costs $1500 more than an Ecoboost. You'll spend decades trying to recover $1500 on a 5K/year pace.

You've inspired me to do the calculation. Will take time to recoup cost but idk about decades unless we are figuring in extra hybrid maintenance (which I am honestly ignorant of so please educate me if I'm missing something).

I averaged the posted city and highway mpg. Hybrid 37.5 mpg and EB 25 mpg.

Hybrid: 5000 miles/37.5 mpg = 133.3 gallons per year. 133 gallons x $3 per gallon = $400 gas expense per year

EB: 5000 miles/25 mpg = 200 gallons per year. 200 gallons x $3 per gallon = $600 gas expense per year

$200 differential per year = 7.5 years to break even.

OK, so 3/4 of a decade! Hahaha. I rarely keep cars that long, so if the math works for you, go for it. Another thing to consider, AWD Hybrids may carry Dealer ADM's over a EB AWD that's available today.

then you need to figure in the extra cost of the mythical hybrid AWD ;)

I'm considering sheading my '23 Lariat Tremor for maybe an XLT FX4/BAP or maybe even the Lobo if that is released.

I plan to keep it at least 10 years, maybe longer judging by my 1998 Ram.

Also I need to factor in wait time and uncertainty for the AWD Hybrid. Even if I order on August 1st, I'm sensing no guarantees that I actually see it delivered. The EB AWD seems more likely to happen. Just need new interior options for FX4!!

Also can you please explain dealer ADM? I'm planning to custom order and avoid the markup over MSRP.

I was banking on the AWD Hybrid having the same $2200 upcharge as the Eco XLT AWD he's also considering.

HRG
That would make TOO much sense. If Ford offers an AWD hybrid variant they will likely lock it into the Lariat trim only.

The AWD Hybrid Lariat lock is a valid theory. It will push me to EB. I'm drawing the line at 3k difference between XLT FX4 4K EB and XLT AWD Hybrid. If greater than 3K difference I'm going EB.

In a perfect world, ordering should protect you from Dealer mark-ups. But, I suspect that if a Hybrid AWD comes to fruition, some Dealers will revert to mark-ups on what could be a very popular product. Far too many stories from people who custom ordered only to have a mark-up demanded once the truck arrived.

For a 2025 Escape AWD Hybrid Ford locks you into the ST Line Select trim level. They've actually made it cheaper for 2025 than 2024 but the cheapest you can get into an AWD Escape Hybrid is $35,685.

Ford is not going to undercut the price of the Escape AWD Hybrid by much so you can expect at least $33,000 starting price any Maverick Hybrid AWD.

Don't forget to consider the extra hybrid license fees that many states extort due to the fuel savings. In Ohio it is an extra 100.00 per year to be environmentally friendly. Nice incentive, right?
