2025 Maverick Ordered....Or Did I?

Hello, everyone! Brand new here! I was googling the 2025 Maverick production times and was linked here. Y'all seem to be in the know, so I figured I would ask this community.

This is my first time ordering a vehicle, but I "ordered" a 2025 XL at the beginning of October. The guy at the dealership said I didn't need to put any money down, and that we would both be notified when the order was picked up. I followed up twice since then and he has assured me both times that the vehicle was ordered. However, I still have nothing. No order number, no VIN number, nothing, and I'm looking for some advice from y'all. Is this typical? Did I waste two and a half months and need to talk to another dealership, or am I about where I should be in this process? Y'all reporting your orders shipping concerns me.

Ask them for a copy of the DORA. If they don't know what that is, ask to talk to the sales manager.

Then call or chat with Ford and ask them for an order status update based on the dealer code and order number from the DORA.

Thanks for your response! I asked for the order and VIN number from the salesman, and he responded with a four digit alphanumerical number, which I thought could no way be an order number. Still not a peep on the VIN number though.

Is the DORA number a four digit one?

Yes. Both of mine have been a 4-digit. I think you'll also need the Sales Code #.

Ah ok! Thanks! That makes me feel a little better about not potentially wasting two and a half months! If I had a sales code then would I be able to look up some kind of status for my truck? Again, thanks for your help!

The alpha numeric is the order number. It is internal to each dealership. They can make it any alphanumeric they want.

With that and a call or chat to ford, you should be able to get an order status.

Ford should actually be able to look you up by name and address. The order number and sales code/dealer code just makes it easier.

I ordered a fully loaded Lariat on 8/2/24. I received an order number within 3 days of my order. I kept checking with my dealer who could provide no information. I think I bothered them enough that I got another email last week stating my vehicle was in scheduling. That's all I have heard. Has not been scheduled yet.

Well that's not very encouraging. I'm going to call Ford this week like @paneubert recommended and see if they can give me confirmation. If it's just taking a while then that doesn't bother me terribly much. I just hope that I'm in line and didn't waste so much time.

We just have my wife's Kia at the moment and have to share it, but I work from home and don't really need to go anywhere during the day. However, I still think out loud about once a day "I want my damn truck" haha

I ordered mine on 8/23 and got the notification the same day. With the order number and the sales code, Ford can give you an update. I used Ford Chat, but I had to do it on my phone. If they give you a VIN, be sure and copy it before you let them go, because it is gone when the chat is closed.

So I explained the situation and they told me to contact the dealer. I made a final plead and they gave me a number to call. They aren't open today so I'm going to give them a call tomorrow!

Good luck! It's crazy how frustrating it is to order these trucks. I got confirmation the same day, but mine didn't go into production until about 7 months later, and I never got any substantive update during that time.

I guess I was lucky, when I ordered I asked the sales guy how to get information and he said the manager would contact me the next business day with a DORA and sales number and from there, I could keep in contact with Ford directly and receive just as much information as the dealership would get....
I think they knew I was going to be annoying if I had to keep going through them for updates hahah
