So far, most of my miles have been short trips around town on local roads maybe 25 miles at a time or stop and go in city traffic. I'm heading out on vacation for my first long freeway trip, about 700 miles each way. Anything I need to keep an eye on, or drive in a particular method or drive mode to maximize the gas mileage?
Thanks for your advice.

I think people call it the “pulse” method. Hit the gas then take your foot off for the regen. Do it as often as you feel safe.

Try to drive less then 65 mph, use the slippery mode, and like others mentioned, get up to speed, then ease off the gas pedal. Enjoy the views while on vacation!

Just drive normal with cruise on and in eco mode. Set it for the speed limit or a couple of mph over and don't worry about it. It will make your trip more enjoyable. Speeding up and slowing down will only make other drivers angry! Gas mileage will be whatever it is. When you get home it will return to normal and you can talk about your trip and not about that guy that flipped you off the third time he had to go around you because you kept speeding up and slowing down.

Second what Randorita just posted.
Don't miss the trip by concentrating on squeezing a tiny bit of mileage out of it.
Pay attention to what is going on around you and the end result will be good.

Drafting someone improves mileage 1.5-2mpg in my experience with this vehicle.
MPGs drop quickly over 70.

Drafting an 18 wheeler tractor-trailer is probably even better, right?
They slow down too much when going up hill.
That and the buffeting side to side is annoying.
