Had to go on a regional road trip last weekend. About 800 miles round trip. Covered areas of MO, IA, IL. On the trip up driving at posted speed limits with max speed typically around 65 I finished the trip up from MO with about 47mpg. The temps were cool enough I could comfortably drive with the windows down or cracked. On the way back home the temps were hot so the AC was turned on, auto set to minimal and interior temp set to 75. The AC in the Maverick is pretty good. On the way home I ended up at about 42mpg. So there is a hit to the economy with AC, but when it is this hot it is worth it.

The truck is reasonably quiet. No droning, or high revving, or anything distracting as far as the behavior of the truck. Part of this trip is in the Ozarks so there are lots of hills, steeper grades and reasons for the truck to have to work, but you really never heard it working hard at any point.

As the trip progressed I kept noticing things that I could dial in to make the things even more comfortable. I would like a little more adjustability of the seats, but that is one of the compromises of getting the XL. I don't mind the seats being manual, but having a little more ability to adjust it the way I like it. Was still comfortable enough, but there is room for improvement.

Got back from the trip with just shy of 1100 miles on the odo. Took it over to an oil change center and dropped that break in oil. It is now ready for the next road trip.... Which is tomorrow! Same trip route and locations. Will be there for a couple of days and head back. Looking forward to driving the Maverick.

The Hybrid doesn't get a huge bonus over the Ecoboost on the highway. I would say they are probably pretty close in fuel economy. But get in slower conditions, speeds, stop and go and the hybrid shines. At the moment I am pretty happy with the truck is performing. Looking forward to getting on the road in the morning. I will try to remember to take some pics of the trip data this time so there is something visual to share. Hopefully this helps someone who may be looking at the Maverick and trying to decide if it would work for them. I am pretty pleased, but I am still on my honeymoon. LOL

If you truly averaged between 42-47 mpg for the round trip it is significantly better than the Ecoboost on the highway.

I kind of find those numbers hard to believe at the stated speeds. Are these hand calculated or going off the trip computer?

After 7,800 miles in my AWD Hybrid (so a slight hit on fuel economy) - I am average a hand calculated 32.5mpg

Which is good, but significantly below the combined rating of 37 mpg and it this point I can't ever see it getting better than 34-35mpg combined.

While on one hand is extremely disappointing but on the other you have to realize it is a truck that can tow 4K lbs, haul 1400 lbs, and is AWD - 32.5mpg hand calculated is pretty impressive.

Only time I can get over 40mpg is if I am driving like a 90 year old grandma on 35-45mph country backroads.

The trip computer in my 2023 Maverick hybrid overstates gas mileage by about 6% over about 22,000 miles.

So 42 mpg is around 39.5 mpg for me.

A good portion of this trip is around 55-60mph and the best economy is in the hills of the Ozarks. I starts off with good economy but as the landscape levels out the economy average drops. Just arrived at my destination on my second trip in the Maverick and I had the AC on the entire way out and it looks like 43mpg. Will see what the return looks like to average it out. I went down in elevation coming out so going back climbing should be lower. Will see on Friday when I return.

One more thing to note. GPS corrected the speedo in the Maverick is 2mph slower than reality. At 63mph on the speedo is 65 according to the GPS. So my speed was adjusted accordingly.
