Did your dealer require a deposit on your Maverick order?

Same here in AL (Cullman dealer, so not very high volume). So far, has been a good experience. They called me when they got a hybrid Escape in so that I could drive it to see what the hybrid experience would be.

I'm in Fort Walton, Gary Smith Ford, seem like good folks, supposed to call me when they get a couple of Mavs in the next few days. (Ecos)

I called around to local Ford Dealers here in NJ asking about ordering. Most wanted $1000 deposit; I found the closest to me, Salerno in Summit NJ wouldn’t even take an order. I left there drove two towns over to Maplecrest in Union, put down $500 and walked out with copy of order and copy of dealer invoice.

My dealer, Ed Kenley Ford in Layton, Utah required no deposit.

First dealer I went to asked for a $500 deposit and a credit check. The second dealer I spoke to asked for no deposit and no credit check. Of course I went with the second dealership.

Yes. I had to put down a $500, refundable deposit. I figured it was refundable, so if things went south, I still go it back. Now it'll be $500 less I have to pay when I get the truck.

Gary Smith sold my parents their most recent car and they were pleased with the experience. I'm originally from Pensacola, where they still live.

Dealer I ordered from required a deposit. Told me it was a new (last 3 years) requirement. Me really??? The reason from Ford dealer was many dealers order as a customer order but its a dealer order. Custom orders get a higher priority.

I understand if Owner of dealership requires it, but still not sure if Ford requires it. Makes me nervous being told something that may not be accurate.

Appreciate the many replies. Next visit to dealer going to try and get more of an answer.

Maybe just call A/Z plan phone number and ask.

Wendle Ford in Spokane asked for a $500 deposit. When I asked the sales person if it was refundable, he said yes. Then the sales manager piped up from across the room that the deposit wasn't necessary, so I didn't leave one.

I would have been fine with paying one, and was more fine with not paying one. I have a production date, so all is good so far.

They will make more money if I back out of the deal, so it is actually in the dealer's interest to make it easy to back out. A non refundable deposit on a Maverick baffles me.
