Hello everyone!

Let me start by saying I realize that 18,000 km or roughly 12,000 miles is not a whole lot to measure a truck by but I’ve been wanting to share my experiences with you all who have helped me so much with many questions regarding the maverick. We picked up the truck in May 2024.

We first bought the truck because we needed some kind of vehicle that can carry small loads and at the same time we can use for a daily commute to and from work, we previously had a Mazda 3 and that didn’t cut it to haul anything more than groceries and perhaps a few small items. The hybrid model worked out for us for that regard, even with its limited carrying capacity of 1500lbs , it still worked out well. Since we have had the truck we have used it to haul a bunch of stuff (wood, soil, tools, etc…) as well as a lot of gravel to finish a part of a gravel road on a piece of property we bought a few years ago.
It performed great regarding hauling the loads, we used the towing mode while hauling extra heavy loads and I had to get used to the reduced breaking distance the tow mode gives but that’s on me.
We also used the truck to go camping a few times this year and that worked out perfectly as well, the truck had enough space in the bed to pack all our camping gear (we have a lot) and still completely close the tri fold cover to protect it all.

We have found that the truck handles surprisingly well, it’s not as responsive as my Mazda 3 but compared to a regular sized truck, it has more response and acts more like a large sedan than a truck if that makes sense. We find that it’s also a very comfortable drive and is quieter in the cab than in our last few vehicles we had, except for the Toyota Camry but that’s a semi luxury car. Another plus has been the mileage. We noticed a significant savings in gas compared to our others vehicles, best mileage so far has been 3.8l / 100km but average is 5.0l/100km. This truck is a beast at saving gas!

We have been lucky to have few issues, the only ones being the infotainment console had to be reset, (had the same problem with my Mazda 3)and the breaks sometimes jump a bit especially on inclines but from reading here, it seems it’s a common issue with mavericks.

TL;DR: We love the truck and don’t regret our purchase it has been fun to drive and reliable minus a few issues. Time will tell if it still runs well but so far, so good!

After 20 months of driving, I have 32000 miles on my 2023. My experience is very similar. While my wife would rather not drive the truck, it is the first truck she likes riding in ('02 RAM Quad cab, '07 Tacoma 4 door).

It was a 2018 Mazda 3, I sold it to a friend for 7000$. He was quite happy.
